What a season it was. 4 Premiership teams and an U12s T20 Premiership, our best result in decades ! We are now Club Champions for 3 years in a row (not confirmed, however, a given). A new combined competition between the BDCA and FLJCA was introduced which, apart from a few teething issues, went very well. We saw the introduction of new Junior and Master Blaster programs and Stage 1 was extended to include the U11s. And SCCC also had the most junior teams in the district. I don’t think it gets better than that! Congratulations to everyone involved. I would also like to congratulate Arash Basnet, Joshua Trevitt, Daniel Louka, Thomas Forrester, Mitchell Rowles, Mathew Fitzgerald, Luca Croft, Patrick Forrester, Baha Dadarkar, Joshua Agius, Zach Agius, Reagan Sidhu, Kostas Saisanas, Thomas Beattie, Scott Beattie, Harley Cutting and Sadeem Ahmed for making BDCA Representative teams this season. Also, congratulations to Patrick Forrester and Daniel Louka for making the PSSA State Cup First XI for MacKillop, and Matthew Fitzgerald for making the Invitational XI. Also to Daniel Louka on being selected for the Metro Thunder Outer West team in the Under 13 State Challenge series. Once again this year, some of our Master Blasters represented the club and got to play on the hallowed SCG turf, and being out there myself watching, the boys had an absolute ball. Our only fundraising event this season, was the usual Bunnings BBQ, and like the years before, was a huge success in raising funds for the club. I would like to thank the committee members who helped get it organised, and for helping on the day. Also to all the parents, coaches and players who helped as well. You all made it a success. On a sour note, I am seeing the same faces over the years stepping up to get involved. I would like to see some new ones if we continue doing this next season. The Host a Murder Night!! Well, what can I say ? To tell you I was extremely disappointed that this night didn't get off the ground, would be a complete understatement. A lot of people went to exhausting lengths to get this organised, and advertised. To have the non-response we received from people to not only have a fantastic night, but to also raise funds for the club, was very disappointing. If we cannot support fundraising events to help the club with equipment, and keeping regos competitive, we will have no choice but to look to increase the regos. To put things into perspective, a cricket ball costs between $30 and $40. They don't fall out of the sky! The Jack Jarrett Shield this year had a bit of twist to it, where instead of it being a fundraiser, we approached Dave Jarrett to nominate a charity to which we could donate the takings. Dave decided that he would like the winner to nominate a charity of their choice. I would like to congratulate Mick Martin's team who took out the shield this year and nominated Padstow Community Care to receive the takings and it was presented to them by Peter Goodrick. This was a fantastic day, and it was well supported by many players, ex-players, juniors, committee members and old boys who just wanted to show they have still got it ! I would like to thank Michael Sleiman and the Daystar Crew once again for their generous donation supporting the Glenn McGrath Pink Stumps Day and also the Saints club members on hand to help on the BBQ at the Diggers. I would also like to thank Panania Diggers for supplying the sausages and venue to us, and also PEHCC for their generous donation. I would like to thank Daystar and the Diggers for your ongoing support throughout the year - your generosity never ceases to astound me! A special thank you to all our other sponsors during the season. Your generous contributions are greatly appreciated and I encourage all Saints Cricket members and families to support our sponsors and use their services. I would like to thank our fantastic committee, who always work tirelessly to make our club the success that it is today. You are all champions!! Last but not least, I would like to extend my thanks to all players, coaches, scorers, managers, parents and friends for the season we had. We should be all very proud of our achievements! A club cannot survive without the generous contribution from its volunteers. ___________________________________________________________________________ St. Christopher’s Cricket Club 4 Season 2018-19 On a sad note, it is with a heavy heart that I tell you all, that this is my last year as Club President. I can assure you all that I have enjoyed every minute of it, made great friends and hopefully, am leaving the club in a better position than when I began. I am extremely proud of this great club and will stick my head in from time to time to see how things are going. To my successor, I wish you all the best and I know that, whoever you are, you will be as passionate as myself and will continue to steer the club in the right direction. Yours in Sport (my last sign off) John Clay President ---------------------------------------------------------- Club Sponsors Saints Cricket is very fortunate to have a loyal group of sponsors that are willing to assist the club, not just financially, but with support throughout the season at club events, fundraisers etc. Michael Sleiman and Daystar First National Real Estate, has been our major sponsor for several seasons and provides support through their financial sponsorship as well as by supporting our fundraising activities during the season and sponsoring our Daystar Club Person of the Year Award. Thank you for your fantastic support. We also appreciate the support of our other long-term sponsors and more recent sponsors. Abela Building Maintenance, Bisaro’s Pharmacy, Mike Hughes & Partners, Gear Box Factory, Barber Crew, Saltwater Seafoods, Aussie and Charlie’s Liquor Barn……we can’t get our teams on the field each week without your support! The relationships we have formed with our sponsors are highly valued by our club and we look forward to continuing these relationships well into the future. Thank you for your support and we encourage all club members to support our sponsors. .. PANANIA DIGGERS SUPPORTS SAINTS CRICKET Panania Diggers has been a major supporter of St Christopher’s Cricket Club for several years - by providing Player of the Week Awards for our junior teams, drink vouchers for our thirsty Senior players, free access to venues for our club functions as well as supporting our events such as Pink Stumps Day and our Presentation Day. We hope to maintain this relationship well into the future. This is another reason to support Panania Diggers – the place for family and friends to gather together to enjoy good food and pleasant company in a comfortable and relaxing environment.
