This club goes from strength to strength, finishing the year with the Mighty U11s winning the Grand Final for the second year in a row, the U13s losing the Grand Final by the hands of the Gods with not a ball bowled in anger!, the U12s bowing out in the Final as did the U10s - an outstanding Club effort by all teams. The club certainly has a pool of talent to take us forward for years to come. I would like to congratulate Paul and Kelli Forrester, Steve Burke and the Under 11 team for your success in going all the way again and taking out the spoils. To watch your side play is a joy and brings a lot of pride to the club. Uncle Ray Evans and his Under 13 team had to painfully turn up both Saturday and Sunday of the Grand Final in the rain only to be denied getting on the park due to the poor state of the field, and finishing second. We will never know what could have been! Andrew Divan and the Under 12 team came up against a team in too good form to overcome and fell just one game short of the big dance. Also to my Under 10 side who, in your first competitive year, made it through to the final and, despite playing your hearts out, were just out played in the end. However, you can all hold your heads up. Well done to ALL coaches, Managers and players from B Grade right through to our champion Minis who turned up giving it your all, but most importantly, loving cricket and playing with mates. Our success didn’t just come from teams making it through to the finals series, it came from our abundance of representative players as well. All our players featured very well in these sides and a big congratulations to you all. U10 Foster Shield – Luca Croft. James Rose, Matthew Fitzgerald, Max Zanbaka, Kristian Zanbaka, Lachie Burke, Patrick Forrester and Harrison Divan U11 Creak Shield – Joshua Trevitt, Daniel Louka, Tom Forrester and Cooper Sutton U12 Cawsey Shield – Ethan Nennas U13 Gee Shield – Mahsen Narvel and James Apostolakis U14 Moore Shield – Ethan Burke and Alex Passarelli U15 Peden and U17 Brewer Shield – Hanan Narvel. Also, congratulations to Mahsen Narvel who has been selected in the Cricket NSW U14 Boys Metro squad for the 2017-18 season. Our annual fund raiser, the Bunnings BBQ, was again a massive success with plenty of help from all teams which made light work of a long day, which always has lots of fun and team banter. Again, I thank everyone for their help. Our social events this year were the Jack Jarrett Shield, including the President vs Secretary Trophy (which is becoming a farce), and a “Back to the 80s” night. The Jack Jarrett Shield was even bigger and better than last year with more teams, more frills and spills, more sledging, more sausages and beers and an inaugural WAGS team who crushed some of the male sides. They may not have won the trophy, but were awarded the sexiest team! The Secretary’s Team beat the President’s Team (they just find new dodgy rules every year) and retained the trophy. Although a fun day, it is named in honour of Jack, a former player, and played in the spirit that the Jarrett family played with in the club. Thank you, Dave, for officiating and awarding the shield to the winning team and I hope you enjoyed the event. Our “Back to the 80s” night wasn’t quite the success we were hoping for, however, what it lacked in numbers, was made up for in absolute mayhem! We had Cindy Laupers, Madonnas, a Drag Queen (I think), Dallas Donnelly, Michael Jackson back from the dead and 2 Mavericks, or Maverick and Goose, or just 2 Goose’s. The jury is out on that one!! A fun night had by all that attended, not so fun on Sunday or for the courtesy bus driver that had to take Priscilla home last! ___________________________________________________________________________ St. Christopher’s Cricket Club 4 Season 2016-17 I would like to thank our beloved secretary Andrew Divan for your tireless work keeping the club running smoothly and efficiently, your BDCA commitments and your organising of the Jack Jarrett shield. It is certainly much appreciated by myself, and all involved in the club. Paul Collins, for jumping in my chair when indisposed and also being a BDCA delegate (that should be a paid job). Also for a great job in getting our club jackets sorted - I think everyone would agree that they look fantastic. Albert (Priscilla) Abela for assisting AD with secretarial stuff, the colourful meeting minutes and heated rule change proposals. Brett (more gear than Kingsgrove Sports) Court for your ball handling skills and storage facilities. A true Clubman. John Grealy, only JG enjoys figures this much! They just keep going up and up!! It’s a pleasure to have you around with your own insight of the game. And last, but by no means least, Peter Goodrick who is the telco of the club, and even retired to spend more time doing our Facebook, newsletters, emails, photos, stats and ideas. I don’t believe there is a more informed club in the universe ! I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all parents and players who choose to call Saints their club! So, if you think I have said way too many thank yous, it’s because without all your help the club would not be what it is today. Thank you. Until next season. Yours in Sport John Clay President ---------------------------------------------------------- Club Sponsors Saints Cricket is very fortunate to have a loyal group of sponsors that are willing to assist the club, not just financially, but with support throughout the season at club events, fundraisers etc. Michael Sleiman and Daystar First National Real Estate, has been our major sponsor for several seasons and provides support through their financial sponsorship as well as by supporting our fundraising activities during the season and sponsoring our Daystar Club Person of the Year Award. Thank you for your fantastic support. We also appreciate the support of our other long-term sponsors and more recent sponsors. Abela Building Maintenance, MRM Logistics, Bisaro’s Pharmacy, Mike Hughes & Prtnrs, Crust Gourmet Pizza, Gear Box Factory, Barber Crew, Saltwater Seafoods, Aussie and Aquifer Plumbing……we can’t get our teams on the field each week without your support ! The relationships we have formed with our sponsors are highly valued by our club and we look forward to continuing these relationships well into the future. Thank you for your support and we encourage all club members to support our sponsors. .. ___________________________________________________________________________ St. Christopher’s Cricket Club 5 Season 2016-17 Some Highlights for 2016-17 ‘HALL OF FAME’ We have seen some exceptional performances through the Grades this season.
