April6. 1979 By DEBORAH PETIT MIDDLETOWN, Pa.,- With a potential core melt-down now greatly reduced, officials at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Reactor Site are turning their attention to the pro blems of cleaning up radioactive substances left by the re cent reactor accident. Upon analysis of the extent of damage incurred in the mishap and the level of radioactive contamination left in the reactor, experts will determine the fate of the Three Mile site. An evaluation of the costs involved will leave the officials with the options of either refurbishing or decommissioning the plant. Both of which would require large amounts of time and money. · The projected time for complete decontamination of the reactor now stands at least one to two years. Additional time beyond ~hat estimate would be required to bring the plant back to operational levels. Cost estimates for the refurbishment of the reactor can not be determined from present data. The costs and time involved in decommissioning the site, however, can be more accurately determined from previous studies done by the Nuclear Regulatory Commis sion (NRC). United Church of Christ Eighth Sunday After Pentecost July 26, 2020 Zoom Worship Pharaoh by A Sanctified Art WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD PRELUDE Go Down, Moses arr. Anthony Giamanco WELCOME & ANNOUCEMENTS Rev. Todd Atkins-Whitley 1 CALL TO WORSHIP Jack Stickler Listen. I have a story to tell— A story of a God who longed for justice. A story of a God who pushed back the waters to make dry land. A story of a God who would not take “no” for an answer when it came to the safety of God’s own. For God’s people were suffering. God’s people were crying out. God’s people were shackled and bound by oppression. So God said to Moses, “Speak.” “Let my people Go.” And Moses spoke— Over and over again. Moses stood up for justice, But over and over again, Pharaoh said no. Power said no. The path to justice is never easy, is it? The path to change is never a straight line, is it? So like Rosa, who sat on the bus, and Martin who had a dream, Moses kept trying. God kept speaking. Moses kept listening. Hope kept breathing. And when power tried to unravel justice, the people kept dreaming. God longed for justice. God still longs for justice. So let us worship God— For human injustice will never be strong enough to unravel God’s dream that all might be free, And all might know love. Let us worship holy God. PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Mariah Callison One: God, you have asked us to be like Moses— Standing up for your people, standing up for justice.

  • SAVOY COMMUNICATIONS Jim Van Slyke Releases New Studio Recording the Sedaka Sessions Neil Sedaka Duets on Two Cuts
SAVOY COMMUNICATIONS Jim Van Slyke Releases New Studio Recording The Sedaka Sessions Neil Sedaka Duets on Two Cuts Los Angeles – August 4- LML Music is excited to announce the August 9th release of award winning performer Jim Van Slyke’s new recording, The Sedaka Sessions. The disc is a joyful, powerful tribute to one of pop music’s living legends, featuring two duets with Neil Sedaka himself. The CD showcases music from Van Slyke's critically acclaimed Sedaka Show, which Mr. Sedaka first saw him perform at the Laurie Beechman Theater in New York City. Impressed and touched, Sedaka offered his assistance and a ringing endorsement: “Jim Van Slyke is something quite special. I’ve heard others sing my songs, but nobody has moved me more than Jim. The voice, the stage presence…just brilliant. He is a songwriter’s dream!” – Neil Sedaka, 2011 The Sedaka Sessions repertoire was culled from 50+ years of Sedaka’s legendary collaborations with Howard Greenfield and Phil Cody (the single exception being “Workin’ on a Groovy Thing” which was written with Roger Atkins). Van Slyke's fresh readings of the timeless tunes make you wonder why you don’t hear brilliant songs like “The Hungry Years”, “Laughter in the Rain” and “Solitaire” more often. The icing on the cake is Mr. Sedaka’s appearance the CD, with duets on “Brighton” and “The Immigrant.” Van Slyke worked extensively on the repertoire of the live Sedaka Show with co- creator, Brian Lane Green, and then musical arranger, Tim DiPasqua, sharing hundreds of song possibilities and ideas about pacing, tempos, lyrics etc.
