They are connected by Club Clusters 1, 2, and 3. As one of the 12 Governor’s Special Representatives appointed by DG Andy in July 2020 to start new clubs, I can say Northern Rivers has had the largest growth in membership this Rotary year. Cluster 2 has led the way by chartering 2 new clubs. Lismore Networking on 18 December 2020 and Evans Head on PDG Terry with DG Andy in Evans Head 28 January 2021. In DG Andy’s newsletter in September 2020, he wrote about “Never let a good crisis go to waste” a comment attributed to Winston Churchill during World War II. This was heeded by Lismore Networking, following a meeting in November 2019. Planning was underway to establish a Satellite Club. When COVID struck in March 2020, a prospective member said, seeing that we are unable to meet face to face let’s seek new members and form a stand- alone club instead. Starting a new club requires time, planning and dedication. President Rita Chand, a former Rotarian from Canberra and the members are to be congratulated on becoming Lismore’s first new club in 25 years. Following Leadership celebrate milestones of service training in Casino on 17 October 2020, Casino President Geoff Austin and I took DG this year. Their longevity is Andy for a drive to Evans Head. For some time we had discussions in Casino Rotary about forming a Satellite Club there. Upon arrival in Evans Head, DG Andy asked matched only by a combined total me “why is there no Rotary Club in this town?” He walked into LJ Hooker Real Estate of 716 years of service. Office and met Brian O’Farrell, the owner and asked him the same question. The Club Years Evans Head Rotary Club was chartered within 3 months of DG Andy visiting this Lismore 90 town. Brian and his wife Dianne are charter members of the Rotary Club of Evans Grafton 88 Head that we chartered with 22 members on 28 January 2021. Evans Head is a Casino 83 beautiful seaside town with 3,100 residents. As a one club one town community, I Kyogle 74 believe Rotary will thrive there.
