    List of horse breeds 1 List of horse breeds This page is a list of horse and pony breeds, and also includes terms used to describe types of horse that are not breeds but are commonly mistaken for breeds. While there is no scientifically accepted definition of the term "breed,"[1] a breed is defined generally as having distinct true-breeding characteristics over a number of generations; its members may be called "purebred". In most cases, bloodlines of horse breeds are recorded with a breed registry. However, in horses, the concept is somewhat flexible, as open stud books are created for developing horse breeds that are not yet fully true-breeding. Registries also are considered the authority as to whether a given breed is listed as Light or saddle horse breeds a "horse" or a "pony". There are also a number of "color breed", sport horse, and gaited horse registries for horses with various phenotypes or other traits, which admit any animal fitting a given set of physical characteristics, even if there is little or no evidence of the trait being a true-breeding characteristic. Other recording entities or specialty organizations may recognize horses from multiple breeds, thus, for the purposes of this article, such animals are classified as a "type" rather than a "breed".     Beech Brook Benefit (BBB) #2 Model Equine Show To Benefit: Beech Brook Farm Equine Rescue May 19, 2018 Introduction: Welcome to the Beech Brook Benefit Model Equine Show! 100% of proceeds (beyond costs of the show) will be used to help pay the “bail & transport” for an unwanted equine that has reached the end of the line in the NJ/PA auction circuit and has been selected for rescue by Beech Brook Farm Equine Rescue. To make this show unique, this year all model entries in the show are limited to “All American Breeds” plus miniature horses and long ears (regardless of country of origin). The Mini Mini show is limited to models of these breeds AND “Little Bits” Scale or smaller Location: Yawgoo Valley Ski & Waterpark 160 Yawgoo Valley Road Exeter, RI 02882 Note about the Show Hall: Yawgoo Valley (one of my employers) has generously donated the use of their lodge for this show. Please treat the facility with the utmost respect (my job depends on it! And I am responsible for leaving the hall EXACTLY as we found it – including cleaning everything). The areas we will be using are the cafeteria area and an adjoining room. The adjoining room will be used as the show hall and showers will have tables in the cafeteria. The “tables” in the cafeteria are permanent dining “booths” in two sizes – Full (the size booth that typically seats 4 people) which has a table area of approximately 5 feet by 2 ½ feet and Half (the size booth that typically seats 2)which has table area of approximately 2 ½ feet by 2 ½ feet.
