DCS Spitfire IX Flight Manual EN.Pdf FLIGHT MANUAL DCS [Spitfire IX] Dear customer, Thank you for purchasing the DCS: Spitfire IX module. This module, the fourth part of a series of aircraft simulators Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) for personal computers, allows you to experience flying legendary British aircraft during the Second World War. As the owners of one of the biggest parks of restored aircraft from the Second World War, the staff of the Fighter Collection and the developers of Eagle Dynamics were fortunate enough to use their own Spitfire IX and study the experience of its pilots to create the world’s most accurate virtual model of the aircraft. Using data from scientific research and volumes of documentation, together with visits to the Fighter Collection hangar, as well as numerous consultations and tests conducted by pilots of the Fighter Collection all made an invaluable contribution to the creation of the flight simulator. When creating this guide, please refer to this manual regarding on the flight and technical operation of the Spitfire IX. Although this type of procedure is very common these days it still is a scary thing knowing that the doctor will be working in an area we find so precious. I think the following poem expresses better than I can that our sight is a beautiful gift that we should treasure always and never take for granted. With that in mind this will be my last edition until I feel that I can spend the hours on the computer necessary to create the Newsletter.. The Gift of Sight What would life be like without the gift of sight, Imprisoned in a world of permanent night? Have you e'er stopped to ponder a theme such as this, Grasping the immensity of all we would miss? The delicate beauty of a flower, its petals unfurled; The many scenic wonders of our so diverse world - Oceans pounding the coastline, a cascading waterfall, The snow-capped summits of towering mountains so tall; The scorching noon-day sun blazing down from the skies; The inquisitiveness in a little child's eyes; The radiant bride and proud husband, their bliss unconcealed, Their heartfelt vows of love by a tender kiss sweetly sealed.     New M Announced by Microsoft at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2019 (E3 2019) is their new flight simulator package set for release in 2020 for both PC and Xbox. We weren't expecting this announcement - given the history of Microsoft's attempts to revise its historic Microsoft Flight Simulator package (aka Microsoft Flight).     Thursday 16 July 2015 Spitfires take to the skies for The Battle of Britain Anniversary Air Show at IWM Duxford Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September Tickets must be booked in advance. Twenty Spitfires will take to the skies this September as part of IWM Duxford’s Battle of Britain Anniversary Air Show, commemorating the 75th Anniversary of this crucial aerial battle. This mass display of Spitfires, above Britain’s best-preserved Second World War Airfield, will include Supermarine Spitfire Mark I N3200 - recently restored and returned to Duxford by American philanthropist Thomas Kaplan and received by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Cambridge. This Spitfire was originally flown from RAF Duxford in 1940 by Squadron Leader Geoffrey D. Stephenson. The Battle of Britain Anniversary Air Show will tell the story of Duxford’s pivotal role in this famous conflict. In September 1940, some 60 Spitfires and Hurricanes were dispersed every day around Duxford and Fowlmere and on 15 September 1940, known as 'Battle of Britain Day', Bader's ‘Big Wing’, operating from Duxford, twice took to the air to repulse Luftwaffe attacks aimed at London. Visitors can experience what it was like to work at RAF Duxford in 1940 with the re-creation of a Spitfire scramble during the air show. Upon the instantly recognisable sound of a Second World War air raid siren, Hispano HA-112 MIL (Buchon) aircraft will fly in and strafe the airfield. As a scramble bell sounds, living history interpreters representing Second World War RAF fighter pilots will race to protect this vital Battle of Britain airfield and Supermarine Spitfires chase off the enemy aircraft.

The following article was sent to us by Kevin Arditto (right), an Ex RAAF maintenance bloke who now lives down near Avalon airport in Victoria. Kevin was an engineer with Australian Airlines and after leaving in 1994 became involved as an Engineer in the restoration process. He says: “This photo of the first post-restoration flight, was taken at Ardmore Airport, which is just south of Auckland in New Zealand on the 29th Sept 2009. The aircraft is a Mark Vb Spitfire, RAF number BL628. It never served in Australia but was operated mainly by Canadians, one of who flew 99 missions over Holland and France and lived to tell the tale This particular aircraft was delivered from Castle Bromwich in January 1942 and was initially allocated to No. 410 Squadron RCAF at Gravesend. It became the personal aircraft of George "Scotty" Murray (right) who named it Marion after his girlfriend. It subsequently served briefly with No. 308 Squadron 31st Fighter Group USAAF in Aug 1942, then Nos. 167 and 610 Squadrons. As the Mark V version became obsolescent, BL628 was converted to a "hooked Spitfire", but without folding wings, and assigned to the Royal Navy who managed to damage it in a hard landing to the extent that it was not repaired. The war ended and it was put up for disposal and the fuselage minus tail and engine was bought by a farmer in Devon for his kids to play in. There it was found in a derelict state some thirty years later by two blokes from Australia in about 1977.

Cordesman U.S. defense planners have been examining the need to create effective missile defenses in the Gulf since at least Iraq’s first use of ballistic missiles against Iran during the Iran-Iraq War in the mid-1980s. Actual progress, however, has been slow and has taken place on a country-by-country basis rather than a part of an integrated effort to create effective regional defenses. Israel has developed effective layered missile and rocket defenses for itself, but the defenses of our Arab strategic partners consist largely of limited coverage by dual capable Patriot missile and air defense systems and surface-to-air missiles that provide some coverage against cruises missiles, UCAVs, and drones. Meanwhile, Iraq, Oman, and Bahrain do not have a Patriot missile system. The United States has deployed Aegis cruisers in the past on a contingency basis and has now deployed THAAD missile defenses to the region. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have also bought THADD systems. As yet, however, there are no clear plans to provide an integrated missile defense system for the region, and the deep divisions between Arab strategic partners make it impossible to develop even integrated air defenses.
