The genus Graphis is characterized by: crustose, corticolous, or rarely saxicolous or foliicolous thallus; lirelline, elongate, simple to irregularly branched ascomata; simple, unbranched paraphyses; unitunicate asci with apical pore apparatus; colourless and transversely septate ascospores with lenticular cell lumina. Photobiont a green alga (generally Trentepohlia). The name Graphis was first proposed by Adanson (1763) in his treatise "Families des Plantes" for accommodating a few species of lichens known at that time. However, Linnaeus (1753) in his "Species Plantarum" had included them under Lichen scriptus while Acharius included them in Opegrapha. Acharius (1810) in his "Lichenographia Universalis" has divided Opegrapha into three genera Arthonia, Opegrapha and Graphis where Graphis is characterized by an elongate apothecium immersed in the thalline margin. Miiller Arg. (1880, 1882) in his series "Lichenoligische Beitrage" has utilized spore characters in the segregation of genera. Taking Graphis (sensu Acharius) with hyaline, transeptate spores he formulated three more genera Graphina with hyaline muriform spores, Phaeographis with brown, transeptate spores and Phaeographina with brown, muriform spores. The name Graphis given to the genus by Adanson has been retained with all the diagnostic characteristics universally accepted, are sensu

Shinde1 Tushar R. Bagul2 1PG Student, 2Assistant Professor, Civil Department (C&M), Civil Department (C&M), Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Engineering, Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Engineering, Pune, Pune, India India ABSTRACT Feasibility studies are carried out to validate expenditure on infrastructure projects. In spite the importance of the studies in supporting decisions related to public expenditure on infrastructure projects, there are no attempts to assess such studies after construction. Ghat Roads are approach routes into the mountainous region like Western and Eastern Ghats. They generally served to connect to sea side regions with the upper region Deccan plateau of the Indian Subcontinent. An analysis of a feasibility study for a state highway ghat road construction project is presented in this paper with an emphasis on the estimates, and forecasts presented in that study to weigh expected benefits from the project against expected costs. The Ghat road will improve connectivity between two tahsils, reducing the travel distance by 40.00 KMS. The Proposed road aims to reduce the Distance and travel time between two districts. This would facilitate trade, and commerce between two districts and reduce the traffic pressure on present roads passing through the existing ghats which are used to travel in kokan presently.

  • D. D. Kosambi History and Society
    D. D. KOSAMBI ON HISTORY AND SOCIETY PROBLEMS OF INTERPRETATION DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY UNIVERSITY OF BOMBAY, BOMBAY PREFACE Man is not an island entire unto himself nor can any discipline of the sciences or social sciences be said to be so - definitely not the discipline of history. Historical studies and works of historians have contributed greatly to the enrichment of scientific knowledge and temper, and the world of history has also grown with and profited from the writings in other branches of the social sciences and developments in scientific research. Though not a professional historian in the traditional sense, D. D. Kosambi cre- ated ripples in the so-called tranquil world of scholarship and left an everlasting impact on the craft of historians, both at the level of ideologi- cal position and that of the methodology of historical reconstruction. This aspect of D. D. Kosambi s contribution to the problems of historical interpretation has been the basis for the selection of these articles and for giving them the present grouping. There have been significant developments in the methodology and approaches to history, resulting in new perspectives and giving new meaning to history in the last four decades in India. Political history continued to dominate historical writings, though few significant works appeared on social history in the forties, such as Social and Rural Economy of North- ern India by A. N. Bose (1942-45); Studies in Indian Social Polity by B. N. Dutt (1944), and India from Primitive Communism to Slavery by S. A. Dange (1949). It was however with Kosambi’s An Introduction to the study of Indian History (1956), that historians focussed their attention more keenly on modes of production at a given level of development to understand the relations of production - economic, social and political.

Student Dr. D.Y. Patil Inst. of Engineering. Management & Research, Akurdi Abstract: Factors including earthquake, storms, volcanic eruptions, human modification of land has increased levels of causing landslide in last decades. Paper presented will give the mapping done in and around Ghat section with direct-indirect methods, there causes, impacts in last decades and way of preventing such landslides. The landslide susceptibility study gives an idea of the stability condition of the slopes so that it can be used for planning any further construction activity and remedial measures. Thus the detailed on landslide zonation mapping and risk management of Malshej Ghat are revels which are discussed in detail. Keywords: Risk management, Landslide, Natural hazards, Mapping, GPS I. INTRODUCTION A natural disaster like landslide is the outcome of combination of a natural hazard and human activities. Landslides cause a lot of casualties in a year especially those cities sited nearby foothills are more vulnerable to landslides. Depending on triggering factors, landslides vary in comparison as well as in the rate of movement. Landslides occur due to several factors such as physio-chemical variables, which contribute to landslide susceptibility, such as geology, slope characteristics, geotechnical properties, drainage patterns and dynamic variables which tend to trigger landslides such as rainfall and earthquakes.

  • Zonal Disaster Management Plan 2019
201920162018 FOREWORD I am happy to note that the Safety Department of Central Railway is bringing out a revised edition of the Zonal Disaster Management Plan of Central Railway for the year 2019. Earlier, a ‘Disaster’ on the Railway meant only a serious train accident. The situation has now changed with the promulgation of Disaster Management Act in the year 2005. Under this act, the word ‘Disaster’ includes natural calamities like earthquake, floods, etc., and also man- made disasters like terrorist acts through bomb blasts, chemical, nuclear and biological disasters. Basically, a ‘Disaster’ is a situation which is beyond the coping capacity of Railways and would require large scale assistance from other agencies. Arising out of DM Act, Government of India has formed a National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC). Thus, Central Management Groups (CMG’s) have been formed in each Ministry, including Railway Ministry, under NCMC. An Integrated Operation Centre (IOC) has been opened in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to handle disaster situation 24 x 7. All concerned Ministries/Departments/Organisations/Agencies will report events to IOC. This Zonal Disaster Management Plan includes brief particulars of these Committees/Groups. A new training methodology and schedule decided by the Board is also included in this Disaster Management plan which will be helpful to strengthen and revamp the Training on Disaster Management being imparted to several tiers of railway officials through Railway Training Institutes. This Plan provides for a structured means of response to any accident or calamity that involves the Railways and ensures that resources of State Administration, National Disaster Response Force and others quickly become available for deployment.
