These high performance 6.5m single handed yachts will race 4000nm across the Atlantic, starting on the 13th of October 2013 This document focuses on how your support can benefit your company on a global level The Mini Transat race hosts the best single handed sailors in the world including the majority of the skippers in this years Vendee Globe Yacht race. “A demanding race and a true test for the best sailors as the route covers difficult and adverse weather conditions racing from Douarnenez in France, 1250nm to Arrecife before commencing sailing 2770nm across the Atlantic to Point a Pitre in Guadeloupe” A campaign incorporating 7 different countries, 12 ports and 6 million people Our Goal is to win the Mini Transat Race After a successful Round the World Yacht Race campaign in 2011/12 skipper Richard Hewson has focused on single handed sailing with the ultimate ambition of the Vendee Globe. Richards’s first objective is to win the 2013 Mini Transat Race across the Atlantic in his high performance RG650 Mini Transat 6.5m Yacht. Following excellent results in the 2012 Mini Circuit, Richard has signed a contract with Katabatic Sailing and G Yacht Design to supply the new RG650 yacht for the campaign. Partner sponsorships are currently in negotiation with Zhik and Harken for clothing and sailing equipment. Richard is tipped for a podium position in this years Mini Transat Yacht Race and has teamed up with Mission Blue to help promote environmental awareness of the ocean and its plight for overfishing and pollution. During preparation and on completion of the Mini Transat Richard will use his experiences to raise environmental awareness and talk about his motivation for life adventures at clubs, community centres, schools and businesses.
