RIGHT FRONT With 4½mm needles and using yarn doubled cast on 38(42,46,50)sts and wk patt as given for back until front measures same as back up to beg of armhole shaping ending with a right side row. SHAPE ARMHOLE WSF Cast off 6sts and patt to end. 32(36,40,44)sts rem. Patt straight until front is 18(20,22,24)rs shorter than back. SHAPE NECK RSF Cast off 20(22,24,26)sts and patt to end. 12(14,16,18)sts rem. Patt straight until front measures same as back. Cast off.

LEFT FRONT With 4½mm needles and using yarn doubled cast on 18(20,22,24)sts and wk in patt as given for back until front measures same as back up to beg of armhole shaping ending with a wrong side row. SHAPE ARMHOLE RSF Cast off 6sts and patt to end. 12(14,16,18)sts rem. Patt straight until front measures same as back ending with a wrong side row. Cast off.

SLEEVES With 4½mm needles and using yarn doubled cast on 32(34,36,38)sts and wk in patt as given for back for 6 rs. Then cont in patt AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st at each end of the next row and 2 foll 8th rows. 38(40,42,44)sts. Patt straight until sleeve measures 12(15,18,20)cms, [5(6,7,8) ins]. Cast off.

MAKE UP Join shoulder seams. Sew sleeve cast off row to armhole on body sewing the cast off 6sts on body to the side of the sleeve. Sew up side and sleeve seams matching patt.

BODY CROCHET EDGING With 3.25mm crochet hook and using yarn single wk as follows: Slip stitch yarn to right side seam, * 3ch, 3tr into same stitch, skip 3sts, slip stitch into next st, rep from * across right front, up right front edge (skipping 3rs), across right front neck, up right front neck, across back neck, down left front to hem, across left front hem and across back. Slip stitch to first stitch. Fasten off.

Sew on 3 buttons, the first one just below neck shaping, the 3rd one 7cms up from hem and the remaining button spaced evenly between.

SLEEVE EDGING With 3.25mm crochet hook and using yarn single wk as follows: Slip stitch yarn at seam * 3ch, 3tr into same stitch, skip 3sts, slip stitch into next st, rep from * across cuff, slip stitch to first stitch. Fasten off. DESIGN NO 6

Fold piece in half and stitch side seams. Insert ribbon through eyelets beg and ending at centre front. Sew motif to front of cover.
