As your Lifestyle Director, I am excited to be able to connect with each of our residents and get the word out about what’s going on in the community! Inside each month’s Lifestyle Guide you will receive information on events and activities, important HOA information and updates on your community. We have a busy season planned with many exciting opportunities to get involved with activities, clubs and classes. Don’t miss our Community Happy Hour, Discover Cape Coral bus trip, Blue Zones Project cooking class, Ladies Day out and much more! Topics will touch on differences between moths and butterflies, butterfly development, plants that support butterflies, netting techniques, tagging and more. The talk will be held in the picnic area near the kayak launch. Reservations requested. Koreshan State park is at 3800 Corkscrew road in Estero. Tour is free with park entry. JUNE EVENTS 10:00 a.m.-Koreshan State Park Happy Hour Join us for this fun social event for all under contract and closed homeowners. This is a great way to mix and mingle with your neighbors. We will meet at Bokampers in the Coconut Point Mall for this neighborhood outing. They are at 8001 Plaza del Lago Drive, Estero, FL 33928 Friday, January 6 Please register with your Lifestyle Director by Wednesday, January 4 by 4:30 p.m.-Bokampers emailing [email protected] Hockey Game Join your neighbors at Tidewater as we cheer on the Florida Everblades this hockey season at Germain Arena. On January 11 it’s $2 hot dogs, beer and wine during the game in the premium seats for $21 a ticket. This game also includes an Everblades t-shirt. The March 18 games is Guns n Hoses with a specialty jersey auction available and tickets are $28 for club level seating. Tickets are non-refundable. It is a home to more than 130 animals. Kowiachobee Animal Preserve cares for big cats, small exotic, domestic and farm animals including lions, leopards, ducks, geese, miniature horses, reptiles, birds, zebras, pigs and chickens. They strive to increase public awareness of the steady decline in certain species and exotic and endangered animals. The Kowiachobee Animal Preserve doesn't just offer a home for these animals. They also work to educate the public about wildlife, the environment and why wild animals do not make good pets. They are at 2861 4th Ave SE, Naples, FL 34117. Join us for the educational tour and tasting at the famous Wicked Dolphin Distillery and Big Blue Brewery both in Cape Coral. We will start at the brewery with a tour and then enjoy lunch on your own at its on-site restaurant. Each attendee will receive a souvenir pint glass. After lunch we will head to the Wicked Dolphin Distillery and learn how it sources its ingredients, cook, ferment, distill, flavor and color their rums. After the tour, we will go to the tasting room and sample its famous rum. As we depart each attendee will receive a souvenir shot glass to take home and have time to shop in the gift JUNE EVENTS shop! Cost is $39.00 per person with a minimum of 20 people to make this Saturday, January 14 trip a go! We will use natural aged and cleaned palm fronds specifically shaped with parts added to embellish and enhance the fish or animal for your special art work. All supplies provided: acrylic paint, use of brushes, palette, paint cloths, image samples/pics and other supplies as well as step-by-step instruction. Lanai art of animal faces will be able to add other features such as ears as artistically needed. Choose from Monkey, Parrot, Lion, Fish, Leopard, Zebra, Giraffe, Elephant, African Mask or suggestions. Your Palm Frond Art is suitable for hanging on your lanai and a hanging loop will be attached so it will be good to go when you get home! Any level of ability or interest welcome. Music Walk Downtown Fort Myers The River District comes alive on the third Friday of the month as local and regional musicians line the streets. From jazz and blues to rock & roll, many genres can be heard and vary each month. Free to the public with many venues featuring additional attractions and specials. We will meet at Los Cabos Cantina at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and drinks on the patio. They are at 2226 W. First Street, Fort Myers. From there you are free to walk around the streets of downtown Fort Myers listening to your favorite bands! Friday, January 20 Please register with your Lifestyle Director by Monday, January 16 by 5:30 p.m.-Los Cabos Cantina emailing [email protected] Blue Zones Project Cooking Demo The world we create for ourselves has an impact on our everyday lives, whether we’re aware of it or not. Across the globe lie Blue Zones areas, where people reach age 100 at an astonishing rate. Citizens of places like Sardinia, Italy, Okinawa, Japan, and Loma Linda, California, have maintained their healthy lifestyles for generations. The Blue Zones Project aims to adopt the lifestyle principles of these areas to transform American cities and towns into Blue Zones Communities, where people can live longer, better lives. Join us for this healthy cooking demo by Blue Zones Project volunteer Emily Atkinson. She will prepare three healthy items (granola, smoothies, hummas) and everyone will have a sampling of what is prepared. We are asking for a $3 donation per per- Saturday, January 21 son to cover the cost of supplies. Please register with your Lifestyle Director by 11:30 a.m.-Community Room Monday, January 16 by emailing [email protected] NBC Behind the Scenes Tour Waterman Broadcasting strives to be the best and most respected resource that people turn to for public service, news, information, marketing, and entertainment. Join us for this behind the scene tour of its facility! This tour is primarily standing with light walking and will last about 90 minutes depending on questions. We are limited to 12 people for this special complimentary day.
