Fuelling operations were completed between March 8 and 15, and the effects are rather obvious. Protecteur successfully embarked a total of 13,600 cubic metres (13,600,000 litres) of F-76 and F-44 fuel. The most noticeable change was in the ship’s draught, which increased from 16 feet 4 inches before fuelling, to 31 feet after fuelling. Protecteur’s displacement also increased - more than doubling from 12,000 to 25,600 tonnes. Winter 2019 Rear Admiral Desmond William Piers, CM DSC CD Patron-in-Chief - - Mrs. Anne Baker FROM THE BRIDGE First of all I hope all shipmate’s and families had a joyous Christmas and New Year. We have just started our new year with the election of a new executive. I would like to thank all of you for the vote of confidence in me to be your President. I’m not perfect, but with your help and with the executive, we will endeavor to do the best job we can. My phone will always be accessible, if you see any problems, or have any suggestions, please let me know, nothing gets achieved if you keep it to yourself. Lets try to bring the club back to where it was when I joined. Talk to friends and former mates, let’s try to sign them up, as we are losing so many members. Reach out to members that haven’t been here for awhile and get the membership back on track. I would also like to thank outgoing President S/M Ivan Foote and his executive. They did an excellent job. As in any new position, it will be a learning experience, so please be patient. There are always new challenges to consider. I am familiar with most of our issues, but I’m sure there will be questions on a few, but just remember that we were all Ordinary Seamen at one time so please bear with me. One of our biggest challenges is to get new, young members, let’s work hard as an organization to resolve this.
