To obtain that profile the species extract was analyzed by ultra-high-performance chromatography coupled to photodiode-array detection and electrospray ionization/ion trap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-DAD-ESI/MSn). Twenty-five phenolic compounds were identified from which isoorientin and 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid can be highlighted because they are the major ones. The antioxidant activity was significantly controlled by the fraction type, with the n-butanol fraction showing the highest antioxidant activity (FRS50 = 64.46 µg/mL in the DPPH assay, FRS50 = 27.87 µg/mL in the ABTS assay and EC50 = 161.11 µg/mL in the reducing power assay). A phytochemical study of the n-butanol fraction was performed, and some important flavone glycosides were isolated. Among them the tamarixetin derivatives—the less common ones—can be emphasized. -

Peer review process All articles included in “Ecologia Balkanica” are peer reviewed. Submitted manuscripts are sent to two or three independent peer reviewers, unless they are either out of scope or below threshold for the journal. The flower heads are large and flat and are composed of tens of $4.10 filipendilina small bright yellow flowers, which make extremely good cut flowers. The plants form a vigorous clump and are frost hardy. Achillea ‘Parkers variety’ filipendulina 'Parkers Variety' won the prestigious Royal Horticultural Award of Garden Merit. Achillea This plant produces showy clusters of cherry red flowers which are held above the clumps of ferny green leaves.The flowers are good for $4.10 millefolium cutting and can be dried. If you deadhead the plants , you may encourage blooming. It likes well drained soil, a little on the poor side, ‘Cassis’- (Yarrow) which encourages the formation of thicker ses so that the flowers dont flop. It is easily divided in Spring or Autumn, and as it is inclined to spread , it is a good idea to site it carefully or to divide it reasonably regularly. It is heat tolerant and is a plant which is easy care and brings life to the summer border. It is reportedly deer and rabbit resistant. Achillea This mix will give flowers in colours of pink, red, white , apricot, beige, bronze and yellow. It flowers from Spring right through until the $4.10 millefolium first frosts. It likes well drained soil which is a little lean, but will adapt to most soils and can tolerate full sun and humid warm ‘Colorado’ - summers. It is suited to pots or containers and the flowers dry well. -

Bocconea 26: 13-132. 2013. — ISSN 1120-4060 (print), 2280-3882 (online). The vascular plants material collected during Iter Mediterraneum V of OPTIMA in Morocco has been studied. It comprises 2366 gatherings collected from 65 localities mainly in the Rif Mountains (28 localities) and the Middle Atlas (21 localities) plus 16 localities in the High Atlas, the “plaines et plateaux du Maroc oriental” and “Maroc atlantique nord”. The checklist includes 1416 species and subspecies which belong to 112 families. One species is new for the flora of Morocco (Epilolium lanceolatum Sebast. & Mauri), 18 are new records for the Middle Atlas, seven for central Middle Atlas, one for Jbel Tazekka, nine for the “plaines et plateaux du Maroc oriental”, three for “base Moulouya”, four for “Maroc atlantique nord”, three for High Atlas, and three for the Rif Mountains. The following new combinations are proposed: Astragalus incanus subsp. fontianus (Maire) Valdés, Malva lusitanica var. hispanica (R. Fern.) EXPLANATORY NOTES FOR CATALOG OF EMILY DICKINSON HERBARIUM by Ray Angelo Emily Dickinson's herbarium consists of 424 pressed specimens arranged on 66 pages of a hard-bound album with green covers. Of these, approximately 250 specimens are species that are known to be native or naturalized in the Amherst, Massachusetts vicinity. The rest are almost all garden, yard or house plants. Five species in the herbarium are on the Massachusetts rare plants list (Massachusetts Natural Heritage Program) as of 2005 (Clematis occidentalis, Adlumia fungosa, Oxalis violacea, Asclepias verticillata, and Veronicastrum virginicum). One species, Castilleja coccinea, is now thought to be extinct in Massachusetts. Most of these rare plants were probably somewhat more common in western Massachusetts in the 19th century than they are now. All but 63 specimens have a name appended to them which is, with few exceptions, the scientific name. Most of the names also have a set of numbers that identify the class and order of the genus (the first part of the scientific name) according to the Linnaean system of classification. The format, the numbers, and most of the names are taken from the various editions of Amos Eaton's Manual of Botany for North America (apparently the 4th [1822], the 5th [1829], and possibly later editions). Eaton's Manual went through eight editions, and even as late as 1840 (year of the last edition) it adhered to the old Linnaean system when most American botanists had rejected this system in favor of the natural systems of classification. It appears that at least one other botanical reference was used for the names, possibly André Michaux's Flora Boreali-Americana [1820] which was well illustrated, unlike Eaton's Manual. -
