MARZO 2021 Junta de Aviación Civil de la República Dominicana Informe Estadístico del Transporte Aerocomercial en República Dominicana, 1er. trimestre 2021 RESUMEN EJECUTIVO Carga aerocomercial: Marzo 2021. • En el 2021 fueron movilizados 19.5 millones de kg de carga vía aérea, de los cuales 13 millones en exportaciones y 6.5 En el presente resumen se señalan los datos más relevantes millones en importaciones, con valor FOB de US$1.6 mil sobre el transporte aerocomercial internacional de la República millones. Aeropuertos: • Los aeropuertos de Las Américas JFPG (676,745 pasajeros) y Punta Cana (531,901 pasajeros) y registraron los más altos niveles de tráfico de pasajeros, representando éstos el 71% del total. Rutas aéreas: • New York/Del Cibao y New York/Las Américas JFPG y se destacaron como las rutas de mayor tráfico de pasajeros bajo la modalidad regular en el 2021, movilizando 73,136 y 59,866 pasajeros, respectivamente. • En la modalidad de vuelos chárter, las rutas aéreas con destino a las ciudades de Boryspil (Ucrania) y Varsovia (Polonia) hacia Punta Cana, lideran el listado movilizando 10,559 y 5,782 pasajeros respectivamente. Líneas aéreas: • Las aerolíneas más activas en cuanto a transporte de pasajeros en la modalidad de vuelo regular fueron JetBlue Airways con 1559,819 pasajeros y American Airlines con 255,870. • En la modalidad de vuelo chárter, se destacaron las líneas aéreas Azur Air Ukraine y Polskie Linie Lotnicze Lot, transportando 35,852 y 21,843 pasajeros respectivamente. Operaciones aerocomerciales: • En cuanto a movimiento de aeronaves, las distintas terminales aeroportuarias de la República Dominicana registraron un total de 19,759 operaciones, cifra que representa un decrecimiento de -6,990 vuelos, comparado con el mismo mes del año 2020. • El 83% (16,473) de las operaciones contabilizadas fueron mediante la modalidad de vuelo regular, mientras que el restante 17% (3,286) de forma chárter. • Los aeropuertos nacionales que movilizaron la mayor cantidad de aeronaves fueron Las Américas JFPG y Punta Cana con 7,501 y 5,576 respectivamente. Esta es la cifra más elevada de tráfico de pasajeros de los últimos 11 meses y el nivel de decrecimiento más bajo. La mencionada tasa de decrecimiento representa una desaceleración de 47 puntos porcentuales en comparación con el reflejado en el mes anterior (febrero decreció un -64%). Tabla 1- Rep. Dom. This figure compares to a May 2020 passenger count of 45,712. January to May 2021 total passenger count has increased 23.3 percent representing 947,844 passengers versus 769,034 passengers during the same period in 2020. Continuing increases in passenger activity reflect air travel recovery trends locally and nationwide. In other activity, 5,465,977 pounds of cargo were shipped in and out of the airport during May 2021. This represents a 0.7 percent decrease versus May 2020, which saw 5,502,194 pounds of cargo shipped. January to May 2021 cargo pounds shipped has increased 4.1 percent representing 26,908,422 cargo pounds versus 25,841,069 cargo pounds during the same period in 2020. The above-mentioned figures reflect service by scheduled airlines Allegiant, American, Boutique, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, United and their regional airline partners and charter airlines iAero Airways, Miami Air, Sun Country, Swift Air and XTRAirways. Cargo carriers include Federal Express, Mountain Air Cargo and UPS.     National Air Carrier Association 1735 North Lynn Street, Suite 105 Arlington, VA 22209 T: +1.703.358.8060 December 29, 2020 BY ELECTRONIC MAIL The Honorable Arjun Garg Acting Deputy Administrator and Chief Counsel Federal Aviation Administration 800 Independence Avenue, SW Washington D.C. 20591 Re: Docket FAA-2020-0862: COVID-19 Related Relief Concerning Operations at Seven Airports for the Summer 2022 Season Dear Acting Deputy Administrator and Chief Counsel Garg: The National Air Carrier Association (NACA) appreciates the opportunity to submit these comments in response to FAA’s recent notice proposing to extend through Summer 2021 the existing waiver of the minimum slot usage requirement at the four IATA Level 2 and three IATA Level 3 airports in the United States (the Notice).1 NACA represents 18 Part 121 air carriers,2 including the nation’s four ultra-low cost carriers (ULCCs) – Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines – and strongly supports the comments submitted separately by Allegiant and Spirit on December 28, 2020 and December 29, 2020, respectively. NACA agrees with Allegiant and Spirit that the FAA Notice proposing to extend the minimum slot usage waiver for the full duration of the Summer 2021 scheduling season would be unduly lenient to existing slot-holders, and that there is no public interest reason to to continue the current slot waivers past the end of March 2021. After correctly stating that “[t]he ultimate duration and severity of COVID-19 impacts on passenger demand in the United States and internationally remain unclear even as the distribution of a vaccine is underway in certain parts of the world,”3 the FAA notice simultaneously proposes that its slot waiver be extended to a date 10 months from now.
