I AM Because YOU ARE! RJM TIMOR LESTE 06/09/2020- NEWSLETTER-03 With a firm commitment to alleviate the poor education, poverty incidence and all the accompanying social ills, the Sisters of the Religious of Jesus and Mary in Timor-Leste strive to devote their energy and resources to “ Educating for Life.” Thus began our story in the social sector of the courtry, in collaboration with the Jesuit Social Service. Br. Noel Oliver SJ and Sr. Mary Francis RJM with Mana Manuella began to respond to the needs of the women of Ulmera. The Tais groups were born in 2015. Soon the necessity for full time committement was felt and and in 2017 Sr. Vidya Pathare RJM stepped in as the Project Co- ordinator for Social Interventions. And so began the RJM- Jesuit venture. On 30th July 2019, the National Prison of Timor Leste granted permission to start rehabilitation and income generating programmes of weaving Tais for the female and handicrafts for the male inmates. Here are the success stories of two inmates interviewed by Sr. Vidya. I am Amer. I was in the military. I enjoyed my life with food, clothes, women and vices. My crime- I speculated that a neighbour used black magic and murdered my friend and in a state of drunkenness, I snatched the away the life of this woman, leading me to 18 years of imprisonment first in Becora Prison and then to Gleno. I am grateful for the on-anger management and music lessons I had in the prison. I met God in the prison especially in the Sisters and Priests who visited us. -

Cass Ave EVS/240 Argonne, IL 60439 Via e-mail Re: Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Oil Shale and Tar Sands (OSTS) Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for Colorado, Wyoming, Utah (tri-state area). Responsible Officials: Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments for the Draft OSTS PEIS; these comments, submitted by Center for Biological Diversity, Grand Canyon Trust and Living Rivers/Colorado Riverkeeper, supplement attached comments submitted by sixteen conservation groups dated April 27, 2012, which we incorporate by reference here. These supplementary comments specifically address cumulative impacts to water resources, air quality, climate, conservation of public lands, and conservation of threatened and endangered species. Our organizations are opposed to new or continued oil shale and tar sands development, leasing, or research on public lands. Commitments of public lands or resources to such greenhouse gas intensive energy development are incompatible with an energy or public lands policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on the timeframe that scientists tell us is absolutely necessary; such commitments also threaten Upper Basin water quality, water quantity, imperiled species and biological diversity, recreational, agricultural and other values. 1. Alternatives We appreciate the work of BLM and Argonne Labs in the development of the OSTS PEIS, however we do not fully support any of the proposed alternatives offered. It is our opinion that any study to develop unconventional oil reserves in the Colorado River Basin remains presumptuous as stated in our scoping comments of May 16, 2011. -

he ULY 9 8 MORGAN HORSE NATIONAL MORGAN HORSE SHOW JULY ?6, 27 THE MORGAN HORSE Oldest and Most Highly Esteemed of American Horses MORGAN HORSES are owned the nation over and used in every kind of service where good saddle horses are a must. Each year finds many new owners of Morgans — each owner a great booster who won- ders why he didn't get wise to the best all-purpose saddle horse sooner. Keystone, the champion Morgan stallion owned by the Keystone Ranch, Entiat, Washington, was winner of the stock horse class at Wash- ington State Horse Show. Mabel Owen of Merrylegs Farm wanted to breed and raise hunters and jumpers. She planned on thoroughbreds until she discovered the Morgan could do everything the thoroughbred could do and the Morgan is calmer and more manageable. So the Morgan is her choice. The excellent Morgan stallion, Mickey Finn, owned by the Mar-La •antt Farms, Northville, Michigan, is another consistent winner in Western LITTLE FLY classes. A Morgan Horse on Western Range. Spring Hope, the young Morgan mare owned by Caven-Glo Farm Westmont, Illinois, competed and won many western classes throughout the middle-west shows the past couple of years, leaving the popular Quar- ter horse behind in many instances. The several Morgan horses owned by Frances and Wilma Reichow of Lenore, Idaho, usually win the western classes wherever they show. J. C. Jackson & Sons operate Pleasant View Ranch, Harrison, Mon- tana. Their Morgan stallion, Fleetfield, is a many-times champion in western stock horse classes. They raise and sell many fine Morgan horses each year. -

Texas Disability History Collection, University of Texas at Arlington Monique Jannette Artist, Paralympian, and former Civil Rights Lawyer Interview conducted by Mark Harris In 2016 in Dallas, Texas Disability Studies Minor Special Collections and Archives University of Texas at Arlington Copyright © 2016 by University of Texas at Arlington Libraries Biography Monique Jannette was born September 23, 1962 and graduated from Warren Travis White High School in Dallas, Texas, earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Geology from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1987, and her Law Degree from Southern Methodist University in 1992. While in middle school and high school, she became interested in science and competitive diving. Jannette exceled at diving and traveled throughout the United States and other countries with diving teams. She earned a full scholarship to Southern Methodist University (SMU), but due to an accident shortly after graduation from high school in 1980, she became paraplegic. Starting in 1981, Jannette attended the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where she studied geology and participated in adaptive track and field under the direction of Jim Hayes. While attending UTA, she was selected to the 1988 U.S. Paralympic Track and Field team, and Table Tennis team in Seoul, South Korea. In 1992 she was selected again to compete with the U.S. Paralympic Team in Barcelona, Spain. Upon graduating from UTA, Jannette went back to SMU to study law. During her time there she collaborated with architects to make SMU more accessible to people with disabilities. After graduating law school, she and a partner began to practice civil rights law, helping the communities and business in and around the Dallas area. -

Baroni Keywords: metal, popular music, popular culture, religion, subculture, Hawai‘i 2 Abstract The island of Oahu is home to probably the most ethnically diverse metal scene in the United States. Contemporary Hawai`i prides itself on being a “model of multiculturalism” free of the racism and ethnic strife that is endemic to the continent; however, beneath this superficial openness and tolerance exist deeply felt class, ethnic, and racial tensions. The metal scene in Hawai`i experiences these conflicting impulses towards inclusion and exclusion as profoundly as any other aspect of contemporary Hawaiian culture, but there is a persistent hope within the metal scene that subcultural identity can triumph over such tensions. Complicating this process is the presence of white military personnel, primarily born and raised on the continental United States, whose cultural attitudes, performances of masculinity, and conception of metal culture differ greatly from that of local metalheads. The misunderstandings, hostilities, bids for subcultural capital, and attempted bridge-building that take place between metalheads in Hawai‘i constitute a subculturally specific attempt to address anxieties concerning the presence of the military, the history of race and racism in Hawai`i, and the complicated, often conflicting desires for both openness and exclusivity that exist within local culture. -

Mrs. Jannette Ward - Food Service Director School breakfast fuels academic success. Kids that eat a healthy breakfast do better in school, have higher attendance and are more likely to stay in school and graduate. We continue to offer “Breakfast in the Classroom” for PK -3. This allows them to keep their morning routine the same. Any student is welcome to eat breakfast before school starting at 7:30. We offer “Grab and Go” during Homeroom for grades 6-12. Some favorites are Pancake/Sausage on a stick, Sausage gravy over biscuits, “Combo Bars” and breakfast sandwiches. “Breakfast Week” is th th March 4 -8 . I encourage all parents to come enjoy breakfast with their children free of charge. Our lunch program is headed in the right direction by keeping the students fueled and motivated for the remainder of the school day. Some of our new items for lunch are Scalloped Potatoes with Ham, Taco Soup, Ham & Swiss on a Croissant Roll, Cheeseburger Soup and Cheddarwurst. During the month of April, we will also offer Beef and Noodles. The beef will be donated by local farmers, Tom and Sharon Martin. As our students and staff continue to enjoy our daily salad bar, we are looking forward to our new salad bar. Thank you to the Lions’ Club, Bingo Dollar and Chef Ann’s Foundation for making this possible. We look forward to seeing our community members come in and enjoy it. Our CLC after school program continues to grow. We offer a snack at 3:45 and we currently have 40 kids that participate. -
