Unlike the opening act, Yeasayer took their time warming up to the audience. The set began with an almost lackadaisical rendition of “Children,” but any questions about Yeasayer’s ability to connect with and wow an audience were soon forgotten. While Yeasayer’s first , All Hour Cymbals, contains tracks whose genius can be appreciated through recordings, many of the tracks of Odd Blood seem as though they were meant to be experienced live. Layers of rhythms and synthetic beats not recorded on the album gave new depth to each song. The already catchy “O.N.E” sounded significantly better live, so much so that some audience members were overheard remarking that they would never be able to listen to the album version again. “I’ve been listening to Yeasayer for a few years but had never seen them live or knew what they looked like,” said CC sophomore Mary Patrick, who attended the Saturday night concert. “Putting faces and visual performance and live sounds to something I have been enjoying for so long definitely put their music into a different perspective.” Yeasayer left the stage to rabid calls for an encore which, once delivered, proved to be the perfect nightcap to an already great show. The recently released Odd Blood didn’t keep the group from playing old crowd favorites. The night concluded with a spectacular rendition of their old hit “Sunrise.” Yeasayer cemented their place on the fringe of the indie movement with the February release of their sophomore album Odd Blood. This well selling album marks a new chapter for a band who was virtually unknown on the music scene until a 2007 performance at the annual South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. Despite their newly acquired prominence in the world of music, they have managed to
