Maharaja’s College Ernakulam NSS unit no 23 Report 2019-20 11/06/2019 Valicheriyal muktha campus programme inauguration by Principal Dr.Jayamol K.V. by fixing pen box at administrative office for collecting used plastic pens. As part of green protocol , 300 steel glasses and plates were purchased in CDC fund as proposed by NSS and it were then handed over to NSS units . Students making paper boats Paper Boats 16/08/2019 -Collection of Flood relief materials Volunteers collected flood relief materials and handed over to district administration. 31/08/2019- Swatchatha pakhwada –Campus cleaning Volunteers engaged in campus cleaning activities. 05/09/2019 – Teachers day celebrations- Blindfolded walk & Priya gurunadhanu/gurunadhakku oru kathu Volunteers observed teacher day in a very special manner. A blindfolded walk with visually challenged teachers of Maharajas college was organized. Each volunteer wrote letter to their favourite school teacher and poster the letter on that day. Paper Clipping 16/09/2019- Mosquito source reduction and cleaning Volunteers engaged in mosquito source reduction and cleaning with the advice of District health department 17/09/2019-–Campus cleaning Volunteers engaged in campus cleaning activities. 18/09/2019 Awareness programme on Dengue fever prevention An awareness class on dengue fever prevention were arranged for students of all departments. 20/09/2019 – Climate Strike 2019 Volunteers participated in Climate strike in solidarity with Global climate strike with Greg Thunberg. Students gathered in the centre circle ofcollege at 11.00am. College governing council chairman Prof.P.K.Raveendran addressed the gathering. A procession of Volunteers and teachers started from the College at 11.30 pm to West gate to East Gate by holding placards. A dance programme was played inorder to convey the message of the importance of environment protection. 21/09/2019- Visit to First filament free Orja Nirmala Haritha Gramam- Thuruthikkara NSS volunteers visited Thuruthykkara village to study various sustainable development projects and to get training on LED lamp making, Soap making and cloth bag making 24/09/2019 – NSS Golden Jubilee Celebrations Volunteers celebrated NSS golden Jubilee day in a very special way. NSS flag was hoisted in the morning. Afterwards all went to Govt U P school for girls Ernakulam, where they painted the walls of the School. After painting the walls , they drew pictures of academic importance on the walls. 24/09/2019- Rail Swachhata Programme About 50 volunteers participated in rail swachhata programme at Ernakulam South railway station. 28/09/2019- Swachhata programme initiated by Air India express at Marine drive Volunteers participated in swachhata programme initiated by Air India express 02/10/2019- Gandhi Jayanthi Celebrations Volunteers celebrated 150th Gandhi Jayanthi. On that day we started Suchithwa Sakshratha Yajnam. A procession of volunteers started from college to Gandhi square by holding placards , given a floral tribute to Gandhi idol and rally enede at Ernakulam South railway station. Volunteers engaged in swachhta programme and attended an awareness programme on railway safety. 03/10/2019-World Mental health week – Awareness Programme In connection with world mental health week, an awareness programme o suicide prevention was conducted. Dr.Deenu Chacko , Assistant Professor of Govt Medical College, Ernakulam handled a session on Mental health promotion and suicide prevention. 10/10/2019- World Mental Health Day Celebrations In association with Counselling cell, an essay competition and poster designing competition was conducted for students on world mental health day. 19/10/2019- Survey conducted at adopted village Volunteers conducted a door to door survey at our adopted village Pizhala to collect primary data of energy consumption and waste management 31/10/2019- Play on Integration - a way to life on Vigilance awareness week Volunteers presented a play at Central square mall in association with Cochin Shipyard on vigilance awareness week. 02/11/2019 Play on Integration –a way to life at Oberon Mall Volunteers presented a play at Oberon mall in association with Cochin Shipyard on vigilance awareness week. 22/11/2019- Ek Bharath Shresta Bharath – Documentary presentation A documentary on the culture and heritage of Assam was presented before the students . .
