6/17 Takapuna AFC Welcomes Ngongotaha AFC Lotto NRFL Div 2 27 May 2017 Club History Sponsors Welcome/President’s Report On behalf of the Takapuna Committee welcome to Taharoto Park for round eleven of the NRFL division two season. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the management team, players and supporters from Ngongotaha AFC. A small reminder to our home teams today—clean your changing room out after your game and look after your opposition, showing them the best of what Takapuna has to offer on and off the pitch. Finally a reminder that the club has a policy of no drinking in the changing rooms. If we are caught this could affect our bar license. Good luck over the weekend to all Takapuna teams, hopefully your 2017 campaigns will have you league winners in 12 weeks time. Please enjoy today’s game and I sincerely hope that you will experience the hospitality on offer during the day and then join with members from both clubs in the clubhouse after the game for the post match player awards and socially relax in the excellent facilities we have to offer Wayne Hallford President 1st Team Report View from the Dugout Good afternoon and welcome back to Taharoto Park for this league game with Ngongotaha AFC Today we will be certainly expecting a very tough game against a side that are much better than the league table would suggest and at present are one of the form teams. As a squad we will be looking for a much improved score line than that of our last couple of games in the league. Although we did get a very well deserved win in the Chatham cup on the way through, I think we do set ourselves high standards and at times this can also be an enemy as fear of failure can set itself up in the camp and this can affect players young and old. One big positive though is we have got through the games in very difficult conditions with sickness and injuries plaguing us each week but this could be what we face now with the winter months ahead. With our young side, We are looking for the few experienced guys to get everyone together and pull them through. We seriously now need more consistency in the league and are determined to string a few wins together. The way the league is panning out, three quarters of the teams will feel they have a chance to get amongst the front runners, so consistency is key. We did it last year with a fantastic start just falling short at the last hurdle but I believe we are stronger in terms of squad depth and this has been boosted by the three or four new lads who will drive us forward. We have some good games coming up over the next month or two including an important Chatham Cup game at home on Monday the 5th June Queens Birthday weekend, where we will certainly be looking forward to testing ourselves against a team from the league above. The added bonus at the moment is I have a squad fit and well which gives me big selection headaches. I have to make the tough decisions to leave good players out of the squad completely. They get very frustrated which is understandable, but they just have to be patient as there are many games to play yet and they must be ready to play when called upon again.     4/16 Takapuna AFC Welcomes Te Atatu AFC Lotto NRFL Div 2 30 April 2016 Club History Sponsors Welcome/President’s Report On behalf of the Takapuna Committee welcome to Taharoto Park for round seven of the NRFL division two season. I would like to extend a warm welcome to James Colligan, his management team, players and supporters from Te Atatu. The last time the two clubs met was back in 2009/2010 season playing in the United Soccer One Premier league under the leader ship of head coach Clive Campbell. The 2016 NFF preseason tournament saw the two teams meet in what can only be described as a trail game as the purpose of the tournament is to give every player the opportunity to impress the first team coach to be selected in his/her starting eleven. Taking the field for both teams will be a lot of new players from when the two teams faced off a couple of months ago, so both teams go into today’s game with a lot of unknowns. In memory of Ray Hill As most will know Ray Hill had been fighting cancer for the good part of two years and sadly he couldn’t fight anymore and passed away on Tuesday 26th April surrounded by family and friends. Our thoughts are with Ray’s family at this very difficult time, we will always remember Ray as a family member of Takapuna AFC Football Club. Rays history and achievements while he was head coach at Takapuna AFC: 1979: Head coach, Northern League First Division 1980:Head coach, Northern League First Division – league winners – promoted to Rothmans National League 1981: Head coach, Rothmans National League 1982: Head coach, Northern Premier League 1980: Ray was awarded the Auckland Soccer Coach of the Year Ray was also a true Liverpool supporter so as we now he will never walk alone Good luck over the weekend to all Takapuna teams, hopefully your 2016 campaigns will have you league winners in 16 weeks time.

    2/18 Takapuna AFC Welcomes Ngongotaha AFC Lotto NRFL Div 2 7 April 2018 Club History Sponsors Welcome/President’s Report Welcome to our second home game of the 2018 league season – and what a blockbuster fixture we have. We extend a very warm welcome to Ngongotaha FC, their fans, players and officials and look forward to a great atmosphere and an exciting game. It has been an eventful off season for the club but I am delighted that we have started the season in very good shape which should augur well for another season of progress. I believe we have an ideal combination of a strong team-based culture, together with an infusion of new ideas and broader experiences which will serve us well over the course of the season. So, we turn to the new season. The good news is that we have had a largely positive transfer window and have secured most of Joe Daw prime targets, and go into the season with the strongest squad in the past three years. This reflects great credit on Joe with his professionalism and the speed with which he has built a new team. We have continued to invest in the playing squad and go into the season with the strongest squad in my tenure, both in terms of depth and in terms of quality. We have built on our core policy of investing in and trusting youth by bringing in experience at higher levels in key positions. The additions of Matt Chant, Nick Smith, Jono Lewis, Tommy Miller and Jack Taylor all experienced Premier players, together with the arrival late last week of Mitch Miller, will mean there is healthy competition in virtually every position.

To tie in with this historic milestone, the Lotto NRFL will have a new look and feel with the introduction of a logo and further branding, including social media and this weekly programme, for one of the country’s leading club-based competitions. The elements used within the logo refer to various features of the different regions. The wavy lines represent the wide expanses of water that surround Northland, Auckland and the Waikato, including the Waikato River, while the mountains evoke the Waitakere Ranges, Bombay Hills and Kamai Ranges, as well as the numerous volcanoes that are scattered throughout the area. The Harbour Bridge connects Auckland’s southern suburbs with the North Shore and stands proud in the distance of the logo while the history of the competition is reflected in the slogan ’50 Years of Local Pride’. A champion will definitely be found in the final round of the Women’s Premier on Sunday with Claudelands Rovers appearing likely to wrestle the crown off Forrest Hill-Milford United. The champions-in-waiting need just a point from the visit of relegated Fencibles United while Forrest Hill must make sure they beat Papatoetoe and pray for a miracle down in Hamilton. In the men’s action, a quirk of the draw has pitted the top two sides against each other in both the Premier League and Division One, creating what amounts to a pair of title deciders. Eastern Suburbs will claim the top-flight gong if they beat Hamilton Wanderers while Forrest Hill can do the same in their northern derby against North Shore United in the first division. Division Two title favourites Papakura City could also wrap things up in Sunday’s trip to AFC Fury but that would depend on Oratia United suffering an upset loss at home to Papatoetoe on Saturday.

Premier League leaders Eastern Suburbs and third-placed Central United are both involved in the cup quarter-finals, meaning the likes of Hamilton Wanderers, Onehunga Sports and Glenfield Rovers can all make up some vital ground. The clash between Wanderers and Sports at Porritt Stadium will be the highlight on Saturday while Glenfield have to deal with a testing trip to resurgent Melville United. There is a massive game in Division One with Forrest Hill-Milford United playing host to Tauranga City United, the outcome of which will have huge consequences in the battle for promotion. The same can be said of the meeting between Oratia United and North Force in Division Two while the season-defining fixtures keep coming with the women’s action on Sunday. Whoever comes out on top as Forrest Hill travel to Claudelands Rovers is likely to go on and win the Women’s Premier title, meaning Glenfield must make sure they sweep aside Norwest United and pray for a draw in the big title decider at Claudelands’ Galloway Park home.
