La médicalisation pernicieuse de la san- té n’est qu’un aspect d’un phénomène généralisé : la paralysie de la produc- tion des valeurs d’usage par l’homme, comme conséquence de l’encombre- ment par des marchandises produites pour lui. L’évaluation de l’entreprise médicale est une tâche politique. Elle exige du non-médecin un effort de recherche personnelle hors de toute tutelle profes- sionnelle. Elle exige du médecin la redécouverte d’une « médecine générale ». L’ensemble des matériaux bibliographiques que j’ai rassemblés et mention- nés dans des notes en bas de pages reflète mon désir d’associer le lecteur à cette aventure. L’engagement dans la recherche d’une alternative concrète au système qui nous opprime présuppose l’ouverture à l’immense richesse des choix. This interim report aescribes the ongoing work of the Networks Project, which is concerned with identi­ fying optimal strategies for educational planning. Work conducted to date includes a survey of theory relating to knowledge diffusion and its transfer to action; a review of case studies of various strategies of knowledge diffusion; a series of three conferences on knowledge networks; commissioning of several papers on selected problemsof knowledge utilization; organization of a seminar on network strategies among graduate students at UCLA; and meetings with selected university and technical assistance groups in Europe to discuss research on cost-effectiveness of alternative strategies for university involvement. Some tentative conclusions from the work to date: In educational planning, standards of cost-effectiveness that are applied to middle-class communities should not be applied to poor communities. Strategies and criteria of networking effectiveness may have to seek out unorthodox measures of planning "output" if service to poor communities is to be an operational priority rather than just a pious wish.

I write this for three principal reasons: First, this proposal would eliminate the existing gas station at that corner. I use this gas station and there is no other gas station in the vicinity. Second, There are already four pharmacies on Solano including one right across the street from the proposed site and a CVS pharmacy in mid Solano. There are also grocery stores, office supply, card and beauty stores carrying products Walgreens would supply, thus creating excessive redundancy. There is an Andronico's super market right next to the proposed site. More importantly, the other existing suppliers are spread along the length of Solano Avenue. Walgreens would concentrate everything into this one congested corner thus creating unnecessary additional traffic and congestion.
