DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS Faculty of Science Mathematics Teacher Fellowship FAQs 1) What salary will the Teacher Fellow receive? Normally, the Teacher Fellow will receive their regular school salary from their school (excluding Management Units). The Department of Mathematics will negotiate details of salary payment with the school. 2) Will the successful applicant retain benefits such as superannuation? The Teacher Fellow will continue to receive their regular school salary from their school so that conditions of service, including such things as superannuation, can be preserved. 3) What courses would the Teacher Fellow be expected to teach? The likely courses will be MATHS 108 and MATHS 102. See this link for more details about the specific courses. 4) What is the selection process? Applications are due 5pm on Friday 9th August. We may request brief interviews if necessary, and contact referees. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by Friday 30th August, 2019. 5) Who got the Fellowship in the previous years? 2019: Kim Locke, Rangitoto College 2018: Jared Hockly, Western Springs College 2017: Masina Po’e-Tofaeono, Manurewa High School 2016: Alan delos Santos, Papatoetoe High School 2013: Andrew Stafford, Senior College 2011: Johanna McHardy, Mt Albert Grammar 2010: Vaughan Mitchell, Aorere College (now at Pakuranga College) 2009: Jeanette Saunders, St Cuthberts College (now at Cognition) 2008: Peter Radonich, Northcote College 6) Can I participate in mathematics education or other courses during the Fellowship year? Yes, you are encouraged to enrol in courses as part of Master of Professional Studies or Certificate of Proficiency. 7) Will I need to inform my school’s Board of Trustees about my application? Yes you will require Board of Trustee approval which can take some time, so it is wise to check meeting dates prior to the 9th August deadline. .
