ACG Strathallan College Alfriston College Aorere College Auckland ACG Strathallan College Alfriston College Aorere College Auckland Seventh Day Adventist High School De La Salle College Destiny School James Cook High School Kia Aroha College Mangere College Manurewa High School Mission Heights Junior College Ormiston Junior College Ormiston Senior College Otahuhu College Papakura High School Papatoetoe High School Pukekohe High School Rosehill College Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate Southern Cross Campus Tangaroa College Week commencing 22nd June – week ending 26th September 2020 Pullman Park (TBC) • Junior: Year 9 or 10 only in the year of competition • U17: Players must be aged either 15, 16, or 17 years as at 31 December in the year in which the competition is held. • Open: Players must be aged at least 15 years on the first day that the competition commences, and must not be over 19 years as at 31 December in the year the competition is held • Entries must be submitted online via EnterNOW by 12.00pm (midday) Monday 8th June 2020. • All teams must supply 1 x referee for each of their scheduled games, see referee section below for more details • All grades are required to register their team players on EnterNOW before the entry closing date (12.00pm Monday 8th June 2020). • Each team shall consist of no more than 12 team members entitled to play. • Players are only allowed to be registered in one team, they cannot play down but once they have played up three times they must remain in that team. • The 3 game rule will apply for players in all grades . • Teams withdrawn after the entry closing date will still be liable for the entry fee. • Late entries will not be accepted. • College Sport will invoice schools once the season has begun. • By entering this competition, you agree to College Sport Auckland's Hosting Requirements: https://collegesport.co.nz/2020/05/25/hosting-requirements/ • Open Grade is not a “social” grade. Entering in Open A is the only way your team can qualify to get into Senior A. Entries for Open A will be collected separately to Zone Entries as the Open A remains split by the following zones: Central East, Central West, Counties Manukau and North Harbour. • Please be prepared to play from 4.00pm onwards. This person is to complete the score sheet before and after the game where needed, be aware of any medical problems of players in the team, implement the rules of the competition, and supervise the players. Teams without supervision may lose by default. No referees will be provided for either the A or B Grades. Each team (A & B Grades) must supply a minimum of 1 x referee per game. For referee workshops please contact Jilly at [email protected]. Referee workshops run for a minimum of 2 hours and can be hosted for a minimum of 10 participants at $75 per hour for the group. Online training is also available, with the recorded session being made available following the workshop. The online training cost is per person, for more details on this option please speak to Jilly directly. Due to time restraints on the 2020 Season there will be no Greater Auckland Basketball Championships this year. The Rules & Regulations are outlined in the Basketball Zone handbook (available on the College Sport website; www.collegesport.co.nz). This also includes the policy on withdrawals, defaults & rescheduled matches, and other policies you should be aware of. *Playing days/dates/venues may be subject to change due to number of teams entered and venue availability. .

    New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Association National Secondary School Cross Country Championships A 40 Year History Introduction The New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Association is proud to publish a forty- year history of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships. Participation in the event between 1974 and 2013 totals well over 10,000 athletes from all but a handful of schools from around the country. With an annual involvement of over 1000 students it has become one of the largest secondary school sporting events in New Zealand. The idea for this document was born during the 1995 NZSSCC Championships in Masterton. At this time (before the internet), results were published in a hard copy booklet. In this particular year the first three place getters in the individual, and three and six person team categories were published for the first twenty-one years of the events history. This accompanied the full set of 1995 results. After this event, the majority of results were published electronically. Unfortunately, many of these results were lost in the mid to late nineties because there was no dedicated NZSSAA website. Sincere thanks need to be given to Don Chadderton for providing the first twenty years’ of results. Without these early results a significant part of athletics New Zealand’s history would have eventually been forgotten. These include the 1974 performance of Alison Rowe, who would later go on to win both the 1981 Boston and New York marathons. As well as Burnside High School’s 1978 performance in the junior boys event where they completed the perfect three-man score of six points.

    Next Top Engineering Scientist 2015 Judges report The seventh annual “Next Top Engineering Scientist competition” was held from 9am to 6pm on Saturday August 1st, 2015. The question posed was “If a New Zealand student uploads a video clip that goes viral, how long will it take before 1% of the world’s population has seen it?” Teams calculated answers that ranged from just a few minutes through to never. The quality of submissions was generally high, with many teams using innovative approaches to solving the problem, including an increasing number of teams making use of computer programming. As with previous years the competition problem was purposefully constructed to be open-ended in nature. To answer the problem required teams to make sensible assumptions around various aspects of the problem including (but not limited to): • The definition of a viral video • The characteristics of the video (e.g. language, length and genre) • The potential audience • The propagation channels (e.g. youtube, facebook, twitter, etc.) Participation Statistics We had 179 teams from 68 schools participate this year (from Dargaville and Whangarei up in the north down to Oamaru and Dunedin in the South). 146 teams had four members and 33 teams had three members. The break down by year level was as follows: Year 11 1 Mixed year 11/12 2 Mixed year 11/13 1 Year 12 70 Mixed year 12/13 29 Year 13 76 A total of 173 teams managed to get a report in by the 6pm deadline and we had many “Action shot” photos submitted during the course of the day.
