Whether you order a model that comes with Ubuntu Touch, postmarketOS, Manjaro, or KDE Neon pre-installed, the phone is designed to boot first from any properly prepared microSD card. That means you can install an alternate OS on a card, insert it, and turn on the phone to try a different operating system. If you like it, you can use JumpDrive to install it to the phone?s built-in eMMC storage, which should bring at least a modest boost in speed. Just want to try out a bunch of different operating systems without committing to one or constantly flashing microSD cards? That?s where Megi?s multi-distro demo image comes in. The developer offers a single image with a bunch of different operating systems pre-installed. Megi released a new version of November 23, 2020 and it has 17 different operating systems crammed into a 6GB disk image. Arvo Mägi KDE Plasma 5 Tallinn, 2017 1 Sissejuhatus KDE töökeskkonnale pani aluse saksa programmeerija Matthias Ettrich 14.10.1996. 2016. a oktoobris sai populaarne KDE seega 20. aastaseks. Hea ülevaate KDE ajaloost annab artikkel „19 Years of KDE History: Step by Step.” KDE 4.14 ilmumisega oli KDE saavutanud kasutusküpsuse, kuid edasine areng kippus takerduma – vaja oli põhimõttelisi uuendusi. Otsustati võtta kasutusele iseseisvatel moodulitel põhinev KDE 5 arhitektuur – Qt/Frameworks. Kõik KDE rakendusprogrammid, sh Plasma 5 töölaud, kasutavad ainult konkreetse rakenduse jaoks vajalikke mooduleid. Varem kasutati kõigi rakenduste jaoks ühist suurt teeki, mis raskendas muudatuste tegemist ja pidurdas arendustööd. Qt on C++ programmeerimiskeskkond. Pikaajalise toega Qt 5.9 LTS ilmus 31. mail 2017. KDE Frameworks on 70 moodulist koosnev komplekt, mis lihtsustab Qt keskkonnas KDE programmide koostamist. However, those are on CentOS 7 they don?t have to worry yet because still, there is a time, as it will reach to end of its life in 2024. Well, one of the popular alternatives which are available to switch the CentOS 6 or 8 is the Oracle Linux, which is free and works with the same binaries used by the CentOS after all both are RPM-based and descendent of Redhat. If you are worried about your installed applications and packages on CentOS 8/7/6 Linux in the process of migration then you don?t have too much because most of them will be intact as they are, even after switching to Oracle Linux. Let?s talk a little bit about Oracle Linux, it is free to download, use, and distribute (even source code) operating system based on RedHat that?s why it is compatible with most of the binaries of RHEL or CentOS. Even enterprises can use it in a production environment free of cost without any obligation from Oracle.
