Over the past 5 years we have Celebrated our Past (2010); Focused on Youth (2011); celebrated small business in The Kivalliq - Where Business is Tradition (2012); and last year we explored our Roads to Opportunities (2013). This year we are Sivumut Kivalliq - Moving the Kivalliq Forward. Thank you for including the Kivalliq Trade Show in your schedule and joining us as we learn about training and education initiatives, programs with current-day examples delivered by Kivalliq experts that are key to improving the regions’ and territories’ social and economic development. SPECIAL EVENTS: Art Market and Sponsored Artist Workshops: Each year the Kivalliq Trade Show Society secures sponsorship in order to bring in Kivalliq-based artisans, carvers and seamstresses. The Nunavut Mining Symposium Society is the sponsor for the 2014 Art Market. We are pleased to have artists representing Coral Harbour – Susie Angootealuk, Adina Duffy, Natuk Paniyuk and Leonie Duffy. Arviat-based artists and designers include Jackie King and Kristie Kablutsiak. And we welcome Paul Malliki from Repulse Bay. These artists as well as many Rankin Inlet artisans will be selling their arts and crafts from SAS Gymnasium Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Come observe how muskox wool is spun to create beautiful scarves, hats, sweaters, etc. Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association are pleased to sponsor workshops for the sponsored artists. Workshops include band weaving, Ulu-making as well as a Business Banking Workshop. Youth Program: For the fifth year, the Kivalliq Trade Show Society has again joined efforts with Kivalliq Partners in Development to support a program geared to youth. This year we have received applications from youth between the ages of 19-29. Youth will kick off their trade show experience on Monday September 29th at 7:00pm in Katimavik Suites by being inspired by motivational speaker, Dave Anderson of Moving Millennials. Anderson will deliver a keynote address that will inspire youth representatives to challenge traditional paths and expectations, and customize their life in every category, without limitations. The keynote: ‘The NEW Millennial Life: How To REMOVE ‘The Box’ and Customize Your Path in Business and Life’. During Tuesday, the youth participants will enhance and grow their skills as youth entrepreneurs through workshop sessions from Canadian Youth Business Foundation (Winnipeg, Manitoba) now titled Futurepreneur. This one-day workshop will focus on business planning, the importance of credit and how to start a new business. 3 KIVALLIQ TRADESHOW Community Entertainment Evening: Our annual entertainment evening highlights Kivalliq’s fashioners’ and musicians. Sakku Investments is pleased to sponsor what has become one of the trade show highlights – a Fashion Show featuring local models and regional designer collections. Topping off the evening will be the musical stylings of Hyper-T, Chesterfield Inlets’ own, Adam Tanuyak, a recent graduate from both Nunavut Sivuniksavut and a Ottawa-based Audio Engineering Program. Adam and Stewart Gats (Kevin) have recorded and produced their new release “Arctic Underground”. Banquet Evening: Wrapping up the 5th annual Kivalliq Trade Show delegates will attend the Agnico Eagle Mines Banquet hosted at the Singiituq Complex Community Hall. Doors open at 6:00pm.
