The few straight cultivars of this species are listed below. That said there are many hybrids of this species with R. idaeus. Essentially any of the agriculturally planted black or purple raspberries on the market have R. occidentalis as a parent. This plant is an aggressive native that produces delicious black fruits and is not susceptible to juglone (a growth inhibitor produced by Juglans species) unlike red raspberries. * See specific cultivar notes on next page.
