The interest shown by Daria Holme, director of the EINTANZHAUS in Mannheim since December 2020 - following the cancellations of the November performances – in continuing our collaboration enabled finding a way to work together on the concrete project. The international workshop from February 22 to 27, 2021 which took place in the form of a video- conference between the stage of the Eintanzhaus and that of the Pôle de Développement Chorégraphique was a concrete step in beginning this creation, bringing together online the live forces of the company dancers in Montpellier, as well as the Mannheim and Warsaw dancers, whom we had become acquainted with during our former projects. August Sander – Menschen des 20.Jahrhunderts The choreographic research will deal with dances strongly linked to rhythm, and detached from any aestheticism but with the aim of developing energy. This will be done together, beginning with the performers’ individual explorations. I also wish to share the work of August Sander with the dancers and with Laurence Alquier, costume designer, in particular on Sander’s way of seizing the uniqueness of each person in these portraits through pose and clothing. By choosing to tackle the scores by Joel Allouche as well as Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”, after having choreographed Ravel’s BOLERO or AC/DC's music for EARTH, I wish once again to approach dynamics and choreographic choices, which were already present in important pieces of our repertoire, such as "Les Locataires" or "Harakiri" for example, but this time in a different relationship to the music. Of French-American nationality, she at first trained in Düsseldorf in classical dance, then in New York with Merce Cunningham and Movement Research, then as an autodidact with many choreographers and teachers in Paris. She then took part in various choreographic projects as a performer, notably with "l'art not least" in Berlin, Didier Théron in Montpellier and Bernardo Montet at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours. Since 2008, she has been collaborating as an artistic advisor with Didier Théron. From 2000, she develops a personal work within the Cie Michèle Murray, which will become Murray / Brosch Productions in 2008, in artistic ©JULIEN REYES ©© collaboration with Maya Brosch. She presents many pieces in Europe, notably in the context of: Festival Montpellier Danse, Le Vivat d'Armentières, Live Art Festival Glasgow, Festival Automne en Normandie, ImPuls Tanz Vienna, Zagreb Dance Festival, Dock 11 Berlin, Schrittmacher Festival Aachen, CND Paris, Festival Faits d'Hiver Paris, CCN Tours. In 2012, she creates the choreographic structure PLAY / Michèle Murray, of which she is artistic director and choreographer, while working in close collaboration with the artists she surrounds herself with. Her latest project ATLAS / ÉTUDES, a "choreographic atlas" of ten short pieces, was presented for the first time in its entirety as part of the Festival Montpellier Danse 2018. In 2019, she begins the new project WILDER SHORES. In parallel to her activity as a choreographer, she teaches in Europe, mainly in France and Germany. Her teaching is closely related to her choreographic practice. Joël ALLOUCHE is musician, jazz drummer and composer, born in Kabylia, his drumming is always open to the influence of world percussion. Musician since his teenage years (70s), he practices musical companionship by working with leading artists and very diverse styles. Many beautiful years of sharing and musical connivance with : Marc Ducret, Paolo Fresu, François Jeanneau, Nguyên Lê, Michel Portal, Ricardo Del Fra, Pierre Favre, Kenny Wheeler, Henri Texier, Louis Winsberg. In full possession of his talent, he decided in the 2000s to ©S UNCE DACHA pass on what he had received and matured from his art. In 2013, he pays homage to Tony Williams who gave him the trigger and then nourished him musically throughout these years. He does this in particular by creating his own quintet presented in many places: Jazz à Junas, Jazz à Sète, Radio France, Jazz sur son 31. DIDIER THERON COMPANY THE MANNHEIM PIECES DIDIER THERON Born in Beziers, studied dance in France with Myriam Berns, Dominique Bagouet, Solange Golovine, Morton Potash. Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture after a first award-winning work - 1st prize Hivernales d'Avignon 1988, he trained at the Cunningham Studio in New York - Merce Cunningham - He completed this approach to dance and choreography with the meeting of Trisha Brown. In Japan, he receives the teaching of Zen master Harada Tangen at the Bukkokuji Temple in Obama Shi. Meetings 1991/ meets Tadashi Suzuki artistic director, Tokyo 1992 / meets Thomas Guggi artist and Berlin producer 1995-96 / Laureate Villa Kujoyama, Kyoto - meets and collaborates with Daniel Buren 2013 / meets Fram Kitagawa directeur of Art Front, Tokyo Didier Théron anchors his project in Montpellier. Under the benevolence of Dominique Bagouet - and on the offer of the municipality and its mayor Georges Frêche, he is invited to occupy with his team municipal premises in the popular district of Mosson. "Dance, art of the link" will be at the center of the thought of an action of territory developed in the project "ALLONS 'Z ENFANTS Projet Pour La Danse et l'Art - en direction de la jeunesse et pour la mixité sociale" (ALLONS'Z ENFANTS Project for Dance and Art - in the direction of youth and for social mixing). This dimension will lead the company to equip itself with a working tool for dance and art: L'ESPACE BERNARD GLANDIER - 2004 official inauguration of a new dance venue in Montpellier with the support of all the local authorities and the Ministry of Culture. It is a new place for experimentation and research, located in the center of the popular district of La Paillade - 25000 inhabitants. This space for dance and art allows the reception of artists at work, presentations of works, conferences, screenings, courses and workshops, thus constituting a place for exchange and sharing of multiple experiences. This project is supported by the DRAC OCCITANIE - The City of Montpellier. Since its creation, the company presents its creations in France and abroad with a recognition of international press articles.     DOSSIER DE PRESSE Septembre à Décembre 2019 Le JAM - Dossier de Presse - Automne 2019 EDITO ans ! Le JAM fête ses 40 ans, sur toute la saison 19-20 !!! Quelques 3000 concerts plus tard, quelques 8000 élèves musiciens plus tard, l’envie est intacte pour le JAM de donner à entendre, de jouer, de faire jouer, de transmettre l’amour du jazz et des musiques vivantes. Jouer et transmettre ! Il y a 40 ans, ces deux volontés ont permis la création du JAM. Le JAM anime désormais une école portée par 30 musiciens enseignants, tous musiciens de scène, qui n’ont qu’un seul mot d’ordre : le « jouer ensemble » pour tous les âges. Pratique loisir ou professionnelle, de huit ans jusqu’à plus soif : le JAM est présent sur tous les fronts pour former des musiciens et élargir le public de la musique en lui donnant à entendre 80 fois par an, dans sa salle de concert, une large palette d’expressions musicales. Pointures du jazz et des musiques du monde, groupes émergents, résidences, sorties d’album, diversité des genres ont fait du JAM un des lieux scéniques préféré des musiciens, à l’acoustique et à l’ambiance reconnues. Centre de Formation professionnelle, la liste est longue des musiciens anciens élèves qui irriguent désormais les groupes actuels, dont les multiplicités d’expressions démontrent que le JAZZ est avant tout un état d’esprit. 40 ans, c’est la force de l’expérience, qui vient appuyer aujourd’hui une envie et une curiosité intactes : celles de la musique tout simplement. Plus que jamais, le musicien est là pour nous apporter joie, plaisir et émotions.

    CLAUDINE FRANÇOIS Piano - Composition A talented pianist and musician of multitudinous adventures (Don Cherry, Jim Pepper, Jane Bunnett…) Claudine François is a many-faceted artist who, within the expression of her art, incorporates African, Caribbean and African-American post- bop influences without ever renouncing her European roots. After outstanding classical studies followed by a career as a concert pianist and parallel teaching activities (in high schools and workshops for children, adolescents and adults), she turned to improvisation and jazz after being exposed to other influences, notably the memorable performance of The Art Ensemble of Chicago's in Paris. She went on to participate in jazz workshops with Jacques Thollot, Daniel Humair Henri Texier and Claudine eventually founded a free jazz group. © M Ciroski In 1983 she obtained a SACEM prize at the la Défense competition. Claudine composes for theater, dance and has also put out a compilation of her works (publisher: Henry Lemoine). Claudine began touring with the musical show , "Cirque de Barbarie", then with her own groups after being influenced by the American drummer John Betsch, with whom she recorded her albums " Camargue " (as well as with the regretted saxophonist Jim Pepper) and " Healing Force " - between European sensibility et American groove. Her love of African cultures and rhythms has led her to collaborate with musicians from Cameroon and Benin with whom she created the Metis Quintet, a band which mixes jazz and sounds from contemporary African sources. The Quintet has toured in France and Africa. In 2002 the album " Amazon " was released with saxophonist Jean- Jacques Élangué, trumpeter Nicolas Genest, bassist André Nkouaga and drummer Denis Tchangou.

    Doudou Gouirand a construit sa musique avec son identité de Méditerranéen et au gré des rencontres avec le Jazz, les Musiques traditionnelles et les Musiques improvisées. Dans son cheminement musical, la rencontre avec Don Cherry en 1972 a été déterminante. Avec lui, il a d'abord étudié au cours de sessions informelles en duo, puis il s'est retrouvé sur scène à ses côtés dans divers contextes. Il a ainsi participé à la fondation des nouveaux territoires de la "World Music" et d'un jazz ouvert, aux côtés de Don Cherry - et par la suite avec Okay Temiz (groupe Oriental Wind) ou M'Bizo Dyani (Doudou Gouirand Quartet et Quintet, avec deux albums). Il va ainsi se produire à diverses reprises au sein de groupes de Don Cherry jusqu'en 1977 avec des concerts en Scandinavie, en Pologne, Hollande, Italie et en France. Avec différents groupe: Bobo Stenson, Palle Danielson, Bengt Berger, Christer Bothen ou JF Jenny Clark et Jacques Thollot. En 1985, Gouirand retrouvera Don Cherry pour l'enregistrement de son album Forgotten tales et des concerts qui suivront entre 1985 et 1989. Par la suite, Doudou Gouirand a été plongé dans d'autres univers jazzistiques d'un niveau d'inspiration également très élevé, dans lesquels l'improvisation occupe toujours une place prépondérante: avec le pianiste Mal Waldron , la chanteuse Jeanne Lee , le bandonéoniste argentin Dino Saluzziou le pianiste Paul Bley . Gouirand va se produire à la fin des années 80 et au début des années 90 avec Mal Waldron et Michel Marre (trio Space) ainsi qu'avec ses propres formations, le plus souvent en quartet (avec Johnny M'Bizo Dyani, Sangoma Everett, Pierre Dorge notamment ou avec Antonello Salis).
