Tab Hunter Confidential, LLC. “TAB HUNTER CONFIDENTIAL” FEBRUARY 25, 2015 TRANSCRIBED BY: WORD OF MOUTH (RL) [00:00:26] TAB HUNTER : I would go out occasionally to a cocktail party and I was fascinated by all of what I saw there. There were a few guys dancing with a few guys, a couple of gals dancing with a couple of gals. It was just a party and people were dancing and having a good time. Parties like this were illegal. [00:00:53] And then the next thing I know the cops came in. Doors burst open, there they were. They were arresting a bunch of, uh, queers. They took us down to the police station. You know, I thought oh my God, this is terrible. I thought what would my mother think of my being arrested? Will it affect this career that I’m trying to get started in motion pictures? [00:01:27] An attorney, Harry Weiss appeared. He was well known for taking care of situations like that with many, many Hollywood people. He said you gotta be a lot sharper than you are. You’re in Hollywood now, you want to be an actor, and really laid down the Tab Hunter Confidential - 2 law to me. And then I was released. I had no idea it was gonna jump up and be thrown out at me years later. [00:01:57] [FILM CLIP] DICK CLARK : Here’s the young fellow you’ve been waiting for. Ladies and gentleman, Tab Hunter. VOICEOVER : Six feet of rugged manhood to stir the heart of every woman.

  • Pioneer Film Director Honored / HENRY KING
The Museum of Modern Art 'iWest 53 Street, New York, N.Y. 10019 Tel. 956-6100 Cable: Modemart NO. 57 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PIONEER FILM DIRECTOR HONORED SEVEN WEEK RETROSPECTIVE FOR HENRY KING CO-SPONSORED BY MUSEUM AND DIRECTORS GUILD OF AMERICA "...the most underpublicized filmmaker in Hollywood. This tall, lean, handsome, urbane, but unflamboyant model of a corporation president makes film hits so easily, so efficiently, and so calmly that he is not news in a community of blaring trumpets, crashing cymbals and screaming egos." -Frank Capra Henry King, one of the founding fathers of American film, who began his career early in the century, remains today one of the legendary figures in Hollywood, and though he preserves his privacy, his films such as "The Song of Bernadette," "Twelve O'clock High" and "The Gunfighter" speak for themselves, and these and other major works will be part of a seven week retrospective given in King's honor by New York's Museum of Modern Art in association with the Directors Guild of America. The Virginia-born director, who has specialized, like D.W. Griffith and John Ford, in Americana themes since his first classic, "Tol'able David," and later with "State Fair", "In Old Chicago," "Jesse James" and "Alexander's Ragtime Band," will make a trip from the West Coast to New York to participate in the opening of this program. On June 29 and 30, he will address the Museum audiences, although he seldom makes public appearances. While he contributed to Hollywood's worldwide reputation, King, who recognized such early superstars as Richard Barthelmess, Ronald Colman and Gary Cooper and gave them their first leading roles on the screen, has managed to retain his relative anonymity in an ostentatious environment.

  • GUNSMOKE TV CAST and DETAILS Premiered
GUNSMOKE TV CAST AND DETAILS Premiered: September 10, 1955, on CBS Rating: TV-PG Premise: This landmark adult Western centered on Marshal Matt Dillon of Dodge City. John Wayne turned down the lead, suggesting James Arness (who remained for its entire run). Originating on radio (with William Conrad as Dillon), it moved to TV in September 1955. Its popularity spawned a number of copycats, but none would enjoy the longevity (and few the consistent quality) of this classic. Airing for 20 years, it's TV's longest running prime-time drama (a record that `Law & Order' is currently chasing). August 2016 Happy Trails of the Wild, Wild West Cowboy King Roy Rogers – Honorary Grand Marshal – 1954 Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade. Happy Trails of the Wild, Wild West – see page 2. Webfooters Post Card Club PO Box 17240 Portland OR 97217-0240 www.thewebfooters.com Happy Trails of the Wild, Wild West For more than three decades, the western genre dominated what we saw on the silver screen. We grew up with western movie stars like John Wayne, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Audie Murphy, Randolph Scott and many more. Western actor Bob Steele was born Robert Adrian Bradbury on January 23, 1907 in Portland, Oregon, into a vaudeville family. After about ten years of touring, the family settled in Hollywood, California, where his father soon found work in the movies, first as an actor and later as a director. Bradbury actually directed John Wayne in more westerns than any other director, albeit low-budget ones. By 1920, Robert Bradbury hired his son Bob and Bob's twin brother, Bill (1907–1971), as juvenile leads for a series of adventure movies titled The Adventures of Bob and Bill. Steele's career began to take off for good in 1927, when he was hired by production company Film Booking Offices of America (FBO) to star in a series of westerns. Renamed Bob Steele at FBO, he soon made a name for himself by working for almost every film studio, including Monogram, Supreme, Tiffany, Syndicate, Republic (including several films of the Three Mesquiteers series) and Producers Releasing Corporation (PRC) (including the initial films of their "Billy the Kid" series), plus he had a role in an adaptation of John Steinbeck's novel, Of Mice and Men in 1939.
