Dear friends, October was full of amazing events for our global community. On October 17, we hosted the first virtual forum "United by Ukraine" online and live on Ukrainian national TV channels UA:Перший and Mariia UA:Культура. Kupriianova It included inspirational speakers, incredible Executive Director, initiatives and engaging discussions about what Ukrainian World Congress unites the global Ukrainian community and what will guide us in the future. On October 18, at the first virtual Annual General Meeting of the Ukrainian World Congress, over 170 participants from over 30 countries discussed important achievements of 2020 and the future vision for UWC strategy. Read more Congratulations! On October 25, Ukrainians cast their ballots at the local elections in Ukraine. Despite the unprecedented conditions of the pandemic, UWC once again supported the democratic processes in Ukraine and organized the International Election Observation Mission. The UWC Mission is chaired by Borys Wrzesnewskyj, former Member of Parliament of Canada. Natalya Nemyliwska, Director of UWC Economic Prosperity and Investment Committee, is the Chief Observer of the UWC Mission. The UWC Election Observation Mission works closely with the Election Observation Mission of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) chaired by UCCA President – UWC Vice President Andrew Futey. We are grateful to the volunteer observers of the UWC and UCCA Election Observation Mission, as well as UWC Office in Ukraine, for their work. In November there will be the next round of local elections in some territories in Ukraine, so the work of the Missions continues. Read more about the Missions’ activities here. On October 30, UWC expressed its unequivocal position in reaction to the ruling of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine threatening to divert from the European integration course and from ensuring effective work and further improvement of the anti-corruption system in Ukraine. UWC President Paul Grod and Executive Director of the UWC Mariya Kupriyanova joined the Annual Meetings of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women's Organizations. We are now in November - Holodomor Awareness Month. It is an opportunity to reflect on a period in history that has shaped our identity as a nation, and continues to drive our quest for historical truth and global recognition of this genocide of the Ukrainian people. Join the international community in remembrance and education by participating in live commemorative events in your local community and virtual ceremonies from around the world.
