A nyní mi nezbývalo nic jiného než třídit černé ponožky, abych nějak zabil čas a dostatečně se unavil, abych mohl jít v klidu spát – bez obav, že se probudím ve čtyři ráno a nebudu moci usnout. Jestliže vzbudit se ve dvě ráno znamená pro čerstvě rozvedeného muže pocit osamění, pak prožít totéž ve čtyři ráno už je něco naprosto nesnesitelného.
