Johann Badenhorst Email: [email protected] There was a jovial spirit at Selection Park Tennis Club on Saturday because two of their star players are heading to the United States of America later this year. Springs resident Danielle Chapman is the number one ranked u-12 player in South Africa and has been a force to be reckoned with for a long time. Chapman will be proudly representing South Africa at the prestigious Louisiana State University, where she will be competing in the SA schools team. From there, she will be jetting off to Morocco where she will compete in the Africa champs. Eben Maré is part of the Young Seniors Team World Championship for the men’s u-45 division, and will be representing our country in Miami Beach, Florida. Maré says: “I’m very excited and feel honoured to represent South Africa in the United States. “I don’t know if I will ever get an opportunity to do this again, but I’ve been working very hard to stay in shape.” In addition to these celebrations, a raffl e was held where two lucky players won state-of-the-art, professional tennis racquets. However, the achievements of Chapman and Maré were the highlight of the afternoon and the club is very proud of them.

Eben Maré and Danielle Chapman are eager to represent their country.
