Prayer

Prelude “Von der Gerburt Christi” Johann Pachelbel

Anthem “Festival Fanfare” Peggy A. Thompson Senior Bell Choir

Call to Worship Bless for the good land we have been given. Praise God, who crowns the year with abundance. We are thankful for the bounty we have enjoyed. God has been good to us through another year. God chooses to love us and draw us near. God invites us to enjoy the good all around us. We are grateful for food, shelter, and family. God enriches our lives with many opportunities. Let us renew our vows to God in this hour. May thanksgiving overflow in acts of kindness. We are here to remember and find renewal. We have come to listen to God’s word.

Hymn #376 “We Gather Together” (see insert)

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession O God, to whom all flesh can come and find acceptance, we bring our unfaithfulness, seeking to renew our awareness of you in every moment of every day. We confess our deeds of iniquity: our forgetfulness of your love, our unkindness to your children, our misuse of the bodies and minds you entrust to us. Despite your generosity, we have sowed sparingly for the sake of others. O God, we need your forgiveness. Awaken our thankfulness as we learn to fully appreciate all you have provided. Amen.

Scripture Matthew 25:14-23 (NIV)

14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ 21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ 22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ 23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Pastoral Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Call to Offering

We have been sheltered and educated and empowered by your generosity. In Christ, we have been shown a way to the wholeness you intend for us. YOUTH DIRECTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE

A healthy and active youth program is not only a necessary outreach for a church to provide to its community but vital to create and cultivate within a congregation to keep it healthy and thriving. It also serves to keep its congregation growing strong for generations and generations.

With this in mind, I have hereby appointed a search committee. Working with Pastor Nick these individuals have been tasked to identify and hire our next Youth Director at Palm Schwenkfelder Church. This committee will also explore the viability of combining the position with that of the Director of the Palm Country Day School, as well as folding the operation of the Day School into the existing boards’ structure of the church.

I hope that everyone will join me in thanking the members of the committee (listed below) for their service and dedication to the congregation in this endeavor. May God guide their discussions and lead them in finding the “right fit” for Palm Schwenkfelder. – Lawrence Croll, Moderator
