We may ask, if God calls us His friend, and perfect love casts our fear ( Jn 15:15; Jas 2:23; 1 Jn 4:18), why should we fear Him? Why do we need to work out our salvation in fear and trembling (Phil 2:12)? If there “is no fear in love” (1 Jn 4:18a), how can we love and fear God at the same time? By way of background, the Task Force on Water-land Interface of the Harbourfront Commission looked into the potentials of water taxis services in the Victoria Harbour in its Paper No. TFWL/02/2012 "Waterborne Passenger Transportation in Victoria Harbour” (See Attachment 1) in February 2012. This Paper will be referred to throughout this memorandum as the “HC Paper”. 3. In preparing this memorandum, we have made the following assumptions: (a) only existing licensed vessels will be deployed as water taxis in this water taxi system i.e. the vessels used as water taxis will have already complied with licensing requirements overseen by the MD (as set out in Section B1 Marine Department - the vessel) and no new vessels are required to be built.; (b) the subject water taxis will operate for private hire use (akin to Uber or road taxis) as opposed to a system of public transport such as the Star Ferry; and (c) the subject water taxis will be “local vessels”1 used solely within Hong Kong waters and therefore be subject mainly to the laws of Hong Kong.

A central question is that of ethnicity and how people learn to “be ethnic” while living in a Western, multicultural society. The first part asks what Scottish-born Chinese children learn about ethnicity through growing up in families who work in the ethnic catering trade.
