As an Ode to Bryant Park, We Are Delighted to Present a Cocktail BRYANT PARK As an ode to Bryant Park, we are delighted to present a cocktail menu that will allow you to travel through the history of our community and discover the secrets of the park and the New York Public Library that are hidden in plain sight. LOW ABV AND APERITIF OFFERINGS The cocktails featured in this chapter will entice and prepare your palate. They are dually inspired by the joy Bryant Park brings to so many and the stellar imagination of our kitchen. When in Bas-Rhin* Blanc Vermouth • Strega • Scrappy’s Celery Bitters Cucumber • Absinthe Foam ~ “refreshing • light • adventurous” 20 Duchenne Smile Byrrh Grand QuinQuina • Coconut • Fraise des Bois • Lime Cordial ~ “mouth-watering • soft • refreshing” 20 Green Stork* CHAPTER I Haku Vodka • Tomatillo • Ancho Reyes • Yellow Chartreuse INTRODUCTION TO BRYANT PARK Jalapeño • Whole Egg ~ The public space upon which Bryant park now sits was first recognized “spicy •vegetal • textural” in 1686 and has been home to many New York landmarks over the years, 22 from a graveyard for the nation’s poor to housing Manhattan’s very own Resident Cocktail Crystal Palace in the mid-19th century. It officially became a park in 1847 Sake • Campari • Passionfruit • Lemon • Blueberry and was named Reservoir Square after the neighboring Croton Reservoir. ~ The Croton Distributing Reservoir was surrounded by 50-foot high granite walls and “bright • tropical • bittersweet” supplied the city with drinking water during the 19th century. Along the tops of the 18 25 -foot wide walls were public promenades where Edgar Allan Poe enjoyed his walks. A remnant of the reservoir can still be seen today in the New York Public Library. Picon Bière Cocktail Bryant Park has been a respite of midtown Manhattan off and on for many Averna • Suze • Angostura • Pilsner years; this chapter of cocktails represent our welcoming reprieve for a weary ~ “piquant • earthy • refreshing” day, intense commute, and an introduction to our offerings of libations. 20 *Consuming raw or undercooked eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness SIGNATURE COCKTAILS These are a selection of cocktails that we are proud to offer that are special to our bar. With much deliberation and patience, we have crafted these cocktails to heighten your entire experience at Gabriel Kreuther much like Bryant Park has painstakingly evolved to become the experience it is today. Convivial Volcán de Mi Tierra Cristalino • Pineapple • Suze Lime • Scrappy’s Firewater Bitters ~ “juicy • acidic • round” 22 Reverbere Fig infused Highwest Bourbon • Cynar • Punt e Mes • Crème de Pêche ~ “sensual • sharp • dark” 20 F Line* Rey Campero EspadÍn • Botanist Gin • Italicus • Chamomile Lavender • Egg White CHAPTER II ~ THE SIGNATURES OF BRYANT PARK “bergamont • tannic • floral” In 1884, Reservoir Square was renamed Bryant Park, to honor the poet, 24 journalist, and long-time editor of the New York Evening Post, William Cullen Bryant. Around the park, multiple monuments of diverse figures can be Good Harvest found, each one representing figures that have helped develop the world as we Génépy des Alpes • Greenhook Gin • Apple Brandy know it. Spread throughout the park are six statues: William Cullen Bryant, Lemon • Pickled Apricot Gertrude Stein, Benito Juarez, William Earl Dodge, José Bonifacio de Andrada e Silva ~ and Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe. The mark these historic individuals have left on the “bright fruit • balanced • light” city and the culture of the United States have made them staples to our community. Here 20 at Gabriel Kreuther we hope to leave our mark on the community with our signature dishes, memorable hospitality, and signature cocktails. *Consuming raw or undercooked eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness ELEVATED CLASSICS These selections of our cocktail menu are developed with the mind of furthering expectation. We start with a classic cocktail and expand its definition. First, by deconstruction the cocktail is understood through a historical context, and then we open the floodgates of imagination to reach a decadent, vibrant, and sometimes delicate new understanding of imbibing. Much like Bryant Park, in making a stretch of land a beautiful and comforting experience, these cocktails are our take on classics that stretch possibility. GK Martini Monkey 47 Gin • Blueberry infused Vermouth • Manzanilla Sherry ~ “silky • smooth • herbaceous” 22 GK Manhattan Michter’s Rye • China China • Rose infused Vermouth Scrappy’s Chocolate Bitters ~ “fine subtlety • rich • complete” 24 CHAPTER III HIGHER EXPECTATIONS FOR BRYANT PARK GK Jasmine Bryant Park has been a site of persistence, resilience, and fortitude. As it Green Tea infused Banks 5 • Grand Marnier Centenaire • Aperol • Citrus stands now the park (slightly elevated from street level) is a pinnacle of many ~ • • inspiring visions from a host of great individuals that believed and fought “crisp full bodied journey” for its success. From 1934 when Robert Moses became Parks Commissioner 25 and held open calls for Bryant Park’s landscape design, to the formation of the Bryant Park Restoration Corporation by the Rockefeller Brothers in the GK Vieux Carre early 1980’s to raise the level of exposure and access to the park, the goal Hennessey VSOP • Westward Single Malt • Benedictine has always been to make Bryant Park a better version of itself. Starting with Cocchi Americano • Tea Smoke hospitality Gabriel Kreuther drives to raise standards, heighten experiences, ~ and elevate the levels of joy that can be reached in a “rewarding for taste buds and olfactory” dining experience. 25 NON ALCOHOLIC LIBATIONS Modesty Seedlip Grove 42 • Amarena • Grapefruit • Tonic ~ “effervescent • grounding • bitter citrus” 12 Along the Lawn Seedlip Garden 108 • Pineapple • Lime ~ “bold • vegetal sweetness • synergistic ” 12 Temperance Seedlip Spice 94 • Strawberry • Vanilla • Orange ~ “invigorating • joyful • lighthearted” 12 CHAPTER IV SEEDLIP ALL ARE WELCOME Seedlip Grove 42 10 Since the refurbishment of the park in 1993, the Bryant Park Restoration Seedlip Spice 94 10 Corporation has gone to great lengths to provide installations and seasonal Seedlip Garden 108 10 activities for the amusement and entertainment for all members of the community.
