National Awards

National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame

E.J. Holub Donny Anderson The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame recognizes those who made an impact on college football during their careers. There are only 800 members currently in the Hall of Fame, picked from a pool of over four million players throughout collegiate football history. Two are from Texas Tech – E.J. Holub and Donny Anderson. Kliff Kingsbury was honored by the organization in December 2002 with an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship. Kliff Kingsbury

Doak Walker Award Since the inception of the Award in 1990, Texas Tech is the only school to have two different players receive the honor. Byron Morris garnered the honor following the 1993 season, while Byron Hanspard received the award in 1996.

Hall of Honor

The Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Honor was established in 1961 to recognize a select group of people who have had a special impact on Texas Tech athletics. Induction into the Hall is not limited to past athletes or administrators, although many Red Raider stars are among the members. To be eligible for consideration, the candidate should not have brought distinction to the Texas Tech athletic program, but also have displayed qualifications such as sportsmanship, character, and integrity. A former athlete is not eligible until 10 years after his/her class has graduated. Full-time Texas Tech athletic employees are not eligible. Inductees are honored at the annual Hall of Honor Banquet on Friday night before the Texas or Texas A&M home football game. Since the Hall of Honor’s initial ceremony, 120 people have been inducted. More detailed information can be found at www.TexasTech.com and click on Hall of Honor.
