“Brothers, we are gathered here today to discuss, once again, the issue of the assassins. Earlier, we discussed in great lengths what should be done about those evil men who killed the honorable Gaius Julius . I was able to share my feelings on the issue and how I believe that those men should be tried and killed for their actions. I stated I hoped that they would end up dead and we throw their bodies into the Tiber River. Today, as we gather once again at the remarkable Temple of Concord, a temple built to generate harmony within our state of Rome after the fall of the Gracchi, we must think of the future of Rome. How are we to let the men with no dignitas who killed our great leader raise armies and threaten to march on our city? As you may know, I am very passionate on this issue, I was a loyal friend to dear Caesar and I wish do not allow his murderers to roam free. In our last discussion on this issue, I refrained from proposing a plan to action as I was unaware of what to do. However, I have spent lots of time praying to as he is King of the gods, and to Mars the God of war. They spoke to me that there is only one option I must give my support behind, and I must express it to you all. I believe that in order for this situation to be solved, we should pass a Senatus Consultum Ultimum. As said by Sallust, “to take care that the Republic suffer no harm”. I truly believe that we are in a state of emergency. If it is rumored that the enemy Brutus has his forces ready and able to march on Rome, we must take preventative action. I propose we pass the SCU and empower our consul to take action. I truly believe that the best option for our city and our nation is slash the heads off the wretched men who caused this crisis. The assassins deserve the death that will rightfully come to them. They killed Gaius , and anyone who is an enemy to him is an enemy to the republic. I hope we can all agree on this issue and vote to pass this SCU. Do what is right for Rome and let us finish this situation. The longer we wait, the threat will continue.”
