I am also the point of contact for police liaison officers of foreign diplomatic establishments based in Singapore. My work tackles the transnational nature of crime. As criminal organisations build networks across boundaries, so must police agencies. As the saying goes, ‘no man is an island’. Similarly, in today’s increasingly borderless world, no country can work alone to curb crimes. Criminal syndicates and criminals are able to commit crimes from the comfort of their homes. As such, it is important for the Police organisations of every country to be able to join forces and fight crimes. This may be in the form of joint operations, assisting one another in criminal investigations or simply, sharing of criminal information or Police knowledge. Hence, the importance of International Collaboration amongst law enforcement units cannot be stressed more enough.”
