[email protected] rmkcrew.com.au ANDRE EAVIS CAREER SYNOPSIS Director of Photography with over 26 years experience in television production. Credits include documentaries, reality, sport, life-style and drama productions. Experienced Steadicam operator and lighting cameraman. CREDITS TV SERIES RIVER COTTAGE AUSTRALIA Fifteen years ago, Englishmen Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall embarked on an experiment in sustainability and self-sufficiency in Dorset in England. Hugh hands over the reins and helps Paul West an Australian chef, how to grow his own produce, raise livestock and become a part of a community where sharing not only knowledge, but the fruits of farm labour are an important part of life. The series follows Paul as he faces new challenges and uniquely Australian characters as he attempts to set up his own farm near the historic and picturesque village of central Tilba on the NSW far south coast. Shot on XD Cam with aid of Canon 5D cameras in underwater housings and Go pros. A visually enticing new show. MASTERCHEF SERIES 1 – As Director of Photography for series 1 of this ground breaking show I worked with a core group of 5 Cameramen. Utilizing the techno JIB and steadicam. I established a very original look, deliberately heading in a different direction from the English series. From the top 50 contestants at the Australian Technology Park to the custom built studio at Alexandria. This series raised the bar for the reality television phenomenon we are witnessing today. CAMP ORANGE - DOP on this ten part series. Utilizing 4 cameras including jimmy jib and night vision lenses. This project was a major challenge: shoot a ten part series in ten days whilst maintaining a high degree of quality, whilst maximizing the children ‘s attention span and patience within an 8 hour day. Shooting challenges, dares and tribal council and interviews this series continues to be a success for Nickelodeon. MY KITCHEN RULES SERIES 1 - 4 , Following the remarkable success of Masterchef this series follows teams as they establish pop up restaurant’s in their own homes. Shot around the country on hand held cameras, to the finale involving all 24 contestants as they cook off against each other. OBSERVATIONAL DOCUMENTARIES BORDER SECURITY – Ob Doc series following Customs, immigration and the armed forced as they protect the border. Series nine is currently in production. From filming the interception of illegal fishing vessels by armed customs officers to catching drug mules through our international airports. Shot on digi-beta often in extreme conditions in the northern waters of Australia. DOING TIME – DOP on a no holds barred look at the maximum security prison of Mulawa. A 13 part series for Nine films. Due to the sensitive nature and security clearance required the entire series was shot by myself. THE FORCE – Following every aspect of policing from knocking down doors of drug dealers, my camera follows the work of the NSW police force in the difficult tasks they perform THE REAL PRISON BREAK – A ten part series I shot in Ireland, England and France. Detailing the intricate details of prison escape. An interview based documentary with re- enactments of escapes, using first hand accounts from ex-inmates and guards including the infamous ‘Durham escape’, which the Shawshank redemption was based on. DOCUMENTARIES INSIDE PARIS - DOP on a travel documentary designed to show some of the unseen and fascinating places in one of the most filmed cities in the world. JOURNEY INTO EXTRAVAGANCE – As part of a small crew we shot a documentary set in the Loire Valley in France, focusing on the pure indulgence and extravagance of the 17th and 18th Centuries in particular the Chalets and their history. CINQUE TERRA – DOP of a series of five towns located on the Mediteranean coast of Italy that are culinary and visual feast. This was shot on Digi Beta Cam and captured the beauty of the historic area. Premiered July 2002. OTHER CREDITS INCLUDE – Fire and Ice and a Moving Experience LIFESTYLE CREDITS THE GREAT OUTDOORS – Camera Operator of a weekly travel show shot on High Definition on location in Antarctica, The Silk Road China, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Africa, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, England, the US and Australia. THE OUTDOOR ROOM – A 10 part series shot on High Definition, traveling through Tuscany, Paris and England with Jamie Durie as he discovered trends and techniques he can adapt and use in his Australian garden designs. Utilising the Mini Jib where possible we created a high quality show that received excellent reviews. • Two of Us: Shane Withington and Suzette Meade
Upfront I was a neurotic mess by the time the Currawong campaign was won, which makes me wary for Suzette. I always end our calls say- ing, “Look after yourself and don’t burn out.” But she seems to be able to handle the pressure. We get on really well, except she doesn’t answer the phone when I want her to, and when I suggest letting off flares, she doesn’t reply, so it doesn’t happen. But I’ll mention it again, and if it still doesn’t happen, I’ll let flares off without her knowing. UZETTE: I was on maternity leave with Smy second child in 2015 when the NSW government development proposal for 6500 apartments and a retail complex in the Cumberland Hospital precinct reared its head. I went to the North Parramatta Residents Action Group’s first meeting, and was nominated to head the action against the development. Shane was the MC for a Crown land summit at NSW Parliament House. I knew of Shane from when he played nurse Brendan Jones on A Country Practice. Summing up, he said, “We all need to get involved with the Female Factory, because that is too precious to lose.” Afterwards, I thanked him for highlighting our plight in Parramatta. He gave me his num- ber, and said to ring if he could help. I contacted Shane several times, but he was always filming. Public broadcast organisations must adopt novel strategies to survive and compete in this new environment, where they need to combine public service with popularity. In this context, scheduling has emerged as the central management tool, organising production and controlling budgets, and is now the driving force in television.

  • Australian Television by Keith G
Australian Television by Keith G. Howes Encyclopedia Copyright © 2015, glbtq, Inc. Entry Copyright © 2002, glbtq, Inc. Reprinted from http://www.glbtq.com Despite some important breakthroughs in the depiction of gay men and lesbians in the past, Australian television today lacks any regular and open discussion of queer issues and lives. Australian television launched the careers of Nicole Kidman, Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Paul Hogan, and Skippy the Kangaroo. One of its five networks led the world in producing a type of sexy, outrageous serial drama that spawned a cycle of soap opera that has beguiled audiences in Australia and in many other parts of the world for over thirty years. Certainly cult television would be the poorer without dramas like Sons and Daughters (with the infamous Pat the Rat), Prisoner/Prisoner--Cell Block H (featuring the dyke-you- love-to-hate), and Return to Eden (heroine escapes jaws of crocodile--just--and takes on new body, face, identity). The combination of geographical isolation, an unpredictable climate, and hatred of pretension and authoritarianism has found its way into Australia's television programming. This was the country that produced the world's first positive gay character (Number 96, 1972-77). And the world's first bisexuals, male and female (Number 96, The Box). And the world's first gay man to parent a young boy far more lovingly and effectively than the boy's own biological parents (Players to the Gallery, 1980). Despite its small population (under 20 million), Australia has been able to maintain five television networks, three entirely commercial, one partly so, and the fifth--approximating to Britain's British Broadcasting Corporation--valiantly surviving on government subsidy alone.

Australia and Vietnam War—A Select Bibliography. Jeff Doyle and Jeffrey Grey Introduction In keeping with the wide range of concerns of the essays in this volume the bibliography has attempted to cover as many “subject headings” as seemed possible. Thus while the title “Select Bibliography” suggests that the compilers have collected only the major “texts” of concern, the following lists are an attempt to be as complete as possible at the time of final compilation. “Select” is meant to convey the fact that the editors are certain (most likely the only certainty prevailing in scholarly life) that the lists are not complete. This incompletion applies to some areas more than to others. Newspapers and the general daily print media, and their radio and television equivalent news industries are the chief areas of extreme selection.
