puolustusvoimat. WELCOME TO THE 50TH WORLD MILITARY SAILING CHAMPIONSHIP IN

DEAR PARTICIPANTS AND GUESTS I wish to extend my warmest greetings and welcome you as our distinguished guests to the 50th World Military Sailing Championship in and the Finnish Naval Academy. Thank you for accepting our invitation.

As this year’s championship is a milestone for the International Military Sports Council, CISM and Military Sailing, it is also a significant year for the Finnish and the Finnish as we celebrate our 100 year anniversary.

Finland has been an active member of CISM since 1964. This is the first time Finland is hosting the World Military Sailing Championship. On the Nordic and regional level we have hosted sailing championships since 1990 when the Finnish Navy Sailing Team was founded and joined the family of military sports.

We are very proud that CISM has entrusted the Finnish Navy to host this championship.

Friendship through sport! Veijo Taipalus Vice Commander of the Finnish Navy
