Virgin Australia Supercars Championship Supplementary Regulations Page 2 of 11 2018 Adelaide 500 – Races 1 and 2 © Supercars Australia 2.2.4 Each Team caterer will be allocated 1 x transit pass and will be required to exit the paddock prior to 0800 each morning. CHAPTER 3 - TECHNICAL 3.1 SCRUTINEERING 3.1.1 Scrutineering will commence at 0730 on Thursday 1st March 2018. 3.2 MINIMUM WEIGHT 3.2.1 In accordance with the requirements of Rule C4.1.1, all Drivers will be required for weighing in the scales garage at 0830 on Friday 2nd March 2018. 3.3 REAR VISION MIRRORS 3.3.1 Delete Rule C6.5.2 and replace with the following: C6.5.2 A Car must be fitted with both a left and right hand side external rear vision mirror. If the left hand side external rear vision mirror is removed, the opening must be covered. The use of “race tape” to cover the opening is permitted. CHAPTER 4 - SPORTING 4.1 DRIVER CONDITIONS POLICY 4.1.1 In accordance with Rule D3.4.4, the nearest Town or City to the Circuit, as listed by the Bureau of Meteorology is Adelaide: http://www.bom.gov.au./sa/forecasts/adelaide.shtml 4.2 BRIEFINGS 4.2.1 A briefing for all Competitor’s Authorised Representatives will be held at 1630 on Thursday 1st March 2018 in the Conference Room located on level 2, northern end of the Pit Garage Complex. 4.2.2 A Refuelling Safety briefing will be held immediately following the Competitor’s Authorised Representatives briefing in the Conference Room located on level 2, northern end of the Pit Garage Complex. Attendance of the following Team members from each Car is compulsory: 4.2.2.1 The refuelling hose operator 4.2.2.2 The fire extinguisher operator 4.2.2.3 The deadman handle operator 4.2.2.4 The Authorised Representative 4.2.3 A briefing for all Competitors and Drivers will be held at 1445 on Friday 2nd March 2018 in the Conference Room located on level 2, northern end of the Pit Garage Complex. 4.3 TYRE FITTING, ALLOCATION AND USAGE 4.3.1 Control Tyre fitting will commence from 0800 on Wednesday 1st March 2018 in the Dunlop facility located in the Supercars paddock. Virgin Australia Supercars Championship Supplementary Regulations Page 3 of 11 2018 Adelaide 500 – Races 1 and 2 © Supercars Australia 4.3.2 In accordance with the requirements of Rule D17.7.2, each Team must present these tyres for marking at the Dunlop facility following Practice 2 on Friday 2nd March 2018. 4.3.3 For this Event delete Rule D17.7.5 and replace with the following; D17.7.5 At each Sprint Event in Australia, a Team must return one (1) set of four (4) Event allocated Control Tyres to Dunlop after the completion of Friday practice and prior to the first Saturday Session at each Event Qualifying - Race 1 on Friday. CHAPTER 5 - OPERATIONS 5.1 ACCESS TO PADDOCK 5.1.1 The set-up of the Supercars paddock will be at the discretion of Supercars. 5.1.2 Specific conditions and details of transporter movements into the Supercars paddock will be distributed directly by the Supercars Transport and Logistics Coordinator. These conditions and timeframes including any predetermined order must be adhered to. 5.1.3 Transporters are permitted to enter the Supercars paddock commencing at 0800 on Wednesday 28th February 2018. 5.1.4 Transporters may arrive at the Circuit from 1300 Tuesday 27th February 2018. Transporters are only permitted to park on the Pit straight, however they must not park on any grid markings. 5.1.5 Other than Team caterers who have the required Transit Car Pass, Passenger vehicles are not permitted to enter the Supercars paddock from 0800 on Wednesday 28th February 2018. 5.2 RACE TRACK WALK 5.2.1 Teams are permitted to undertake their Race Track walk at any time on Wednesday 28th February 2018. 5.2.2 The Race Track will still be a public road at this time and as such, Teams are advised to take their own precautions. 5.3 STORAGE 5.3.1 Fuel drums are not permitted to be stored directly next to each other. 5.3.2 It is not permitted to store anything under the stairs that lead up to the corporate facilities above the Pit Lane. 5.4 TRANSPORTER DEPARTURE AFTER THE EVENT 5.4.1 Unless otherwise advised by Supercars, no Team transporter will be permitted to move from its allocated position or leave the Supercars paddock prior to 1900 hours on Sunday 4th March 2018. CHAPTER 6 - MARKETING 6.1 PROMOTIONAL SCHEDULE 6.1.1 Teams must adhere to the activities outlined in the promotional schedule and/or any subsequent updates as provided by Supercars. Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway, delivered the exciting news at a media launch, announcing that Australia’s largest ticketed domestic motorsport event would now be known as the Superloop Adelaide 500. “We are extremely pleased to welcome Superloop as naming rights partner, for the Supercars spectacular season opener,” said Minister Ridgway. “The Adelaide 500 is a much-loved event on the South Australian events calendar, injecting millions of dollars into the state. “This multi-year deal provides an opportunity to grow the event further - we look forward to working with Superloop to deliver a sensational festival of motorsport and entertainment” said Minister Ridgway. Superloop is a provider of telecommunications connectivity and services in Australia and the Asia Pacific, with over 400 staff worldwide and 45 staff in Adelaide which is the lead office for Superloop Home Broadband. Through expansion of their own networks, and access to the nationwide NBN network, Superloop is currently being transformed into a complete IT provider for both Residential and Business. Drew Kelton, CEO of Superloop, said the new partnership is the next step in Superloop’s Australia-wide expansion. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Adelaide 500 as we continue our journey in Australia,” he said.
