BLAST CULT Press Relase NAMM 2019 S.Pdf PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release BLAST CULT 1580 N Batavia St Suite 4 Orange, CA 92867 [email protected] Tel. +1 (714) 244 5694 NAMM 24-27th January 2019 Booth 3941 Blast Cult Launches Two New Guitar Models at NAMM 2019 The Batavia and The Spellcaster Blast Cult preaches the gospel of a Sonic Religion to upright bass players and guitarists the world over. Be it out of wood, metal or cloth Blast Cult products speak for themselves; turning the highest quality raw materials into durable, practical pieces of art. This year at NAMM, Blast Cult will be launching two new guitar models to add to their repertoire of custom made and unique musical instruments, The Batavia and The Spellcaster guitars. The Batavia is a single cutaway hollow body guitar. The body is contructed from maple with spruce and mahogany bracing, maple neck, and pau ferro fretboard inlayed with mother of pearl. The Batavia guitar was conceived and inspired by Jason Burns’ favorite hollow body guitars from the fifties and it comes in two color versions, a two-toned gold and ivory with cream binding, and a gloss black with a nitrocell perloid binding. Another special addition to the Batavia model are the New Blast Cult 1580 pickups. The Spellcaster guitar is a tribute to the god of electric guitars. Its 1.5' hemlock body, maple neck and pau ferro fretboard makes it especially lightweight with tons of vintage tone. It comes equipped with a pair of TV Jones Starwood pickups and a nitro cellulose lacquer finish. It also comes in two color versions, a dark brown burst with gold pin striping with black pick guard, and in institution pink with black striping and black pick guard. ABOUT BLAST CULT Committing to quality over quantity you won’t find BLAST CULT instruments in big box stores for the unwashed masses; instead, we cater to touring musicians and the collector’s market. Every aspect of the company is a unique experience from the cast of misfits that contribute to the crafting of each guitar to the bespoke nature of the production process itself. Jason Burns is from Louisiana; he talks slow and plays fast. A luthier and master craftsman, Burns rolls 20 years of experience building quality instruments that can take a beating on the road. No second fiddle to the Stand-Up, Jason is a touring musician that understands it is critical to have an instrument that can stay in one piece until the end of the tour. There's innovation and quality that go into every instrument that leaves his bench. “There’s not a lot of glory in this job, but there’s a lot of satisfaction,” Burns says. Devotees of the CULT includes Miles Mosely (not inconsequentially named after Miles Davis) a vocalist, composer, upright bass player and a founding member of the acclaimed collective, The West Coast Get Down. If Jimi Hendrix played upright bass - you'd have Miles Mosely. Djordje Stijepovic is a Serbian-American double bass player, singer, and composer. He is best known as the bassist for the psychobilly band Tiger Army. He is also a former member of Lemmy Kilmister’s (Motörhead) side project The Head Cat with Stray Cats’ Slim Jim Phantom on drums. His eclectic playing style contributes generously to the cauldron that is BLAST CULT. All Blast Cult instruments are custom made; if you don't find what you are looking for on our web store, please check out the archive sections or get in touch with us..

Lemmy Kilmister: Dogged Insolence in the Face of Mounting Opposition to the Contrary www.slickstermagazine.com /lemmy-kilmister-dogged-insolence-face-mounting-opposition-contrary/ Joe Mitchell In 2013, at the age of 67, rock icon Lemmy Kilmister, best known for his work as the leader of thrash metal progenitors, Motörhead, had a cardioverter defibrillator implanted in his chest. Though his notorious drug usage had been restricted since the early 90s when he began suffering from diabetes and hypertension, he refused to completely give up drinking and smoking after the procedure. It did make him reduce his alcohol intake. He finally gave up his “daily bottle of Jack Daniel’s” habit that he’d had since the mid-70s. Still, he readily admitted he had could not completely give up alcohol and cigarettes . He called this refusal, “Dogged insolence in the face of mounting opposition to the contrary.” That phrase may well distill not only Kilmister’s life, but the entire philosophy of Rock ‘n’ Roll as well. More than two years later, just days after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, Kilmister died at about 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time in his two- bedroom apartment not far from his favorite hang-out, the Rainbow Bar & Grill, on Sunset Boulevard, where he was often enthralled in the playing of a particular video game. When Kilmister became too ill to leave his apartment, the owners of the Rainbow had the game moved to his home so he could continue to play it. It is said that Kilmister died sitting upright in a stool in front of the machine.

OCTOBER 29, 2019 Link to article: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8541086/the-stray-cats- lee-rocker-pays-homage-to-his-influences-on-dog-house The Stray Cats' Lee Rocker Pays Homage to His Influences on 'Dog House Shuffle': Premiere 10/29/2019 by Gary Graff Alex Solka Lee Rocker The Stray Cats' Lee Rocker gets all about the upright bass on "Dog House Shuffle," a one-off solo single whose video, premiering exclusively below, pays tribute to the instrument Rocker helped propel into the MTV lexicon during the early '80s. "It's a tribute in a lot of ways," Rocker (nee Leon Drucker) tells Billboard. "It's a song I wrote over the last couple of months. I was thinking about my career with 40 years of Stray Cats and all of that and thinking about the upright bass, which is what started this thing. It takes me back to the opening line of the song -- which is "Took me 'round the world and I changed my name/found a little fortune, found a little fame/Doin' the dog house shuffle" -- which is right out of my story. Dog House is what they call the upright bass, so it's a tribute to the bass itself and a lot of the players that I came up listening to." Some of those players -- including Elvis Presley's Bill Black, Willie Dixon, Fred Maddox, the Tennessee Three's Marshall Grant, Carl Perkins' brother Clayton and Al Rex of Bill Haley & His Comets -- are featured in the "Dog House Shuffle" video, along with cartoon animations and studio footage of Rocker and his band recording the track.

Throughout the Australian landscape are rubbish tips, which provide biological attraction points around which free-living cats congregate in high densities. This study examined populations of cats exploiting tip sites in two contrasting bioregions in New South Wales. The study determined the most useful methods for the detection and assessment of abundance of free-living cats, and compared the efficacy of the detection methods between contrasting environments.

I thought in light of this that this month's TALKBACK SECTON would take a look back at some other Rockers who checked out way too young. Let's take a trip down memory lane: 12/1/93 - Singer: Ray Gillian dies from Aids related complications. While he never appeared on record with Black Sabbath he was briefly a member of Black Sabbath's touring band when he briefly replaced legendary Singer: Glenn Hughes in the band. Following his gig with Sabbath Gillen briefly worked w/Ex Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake Guitarist: John Sykes in Blue Murder but eventually Gillen left Blue Murder and formed BadLands w/Ex Ozzy Osbourne/Ratt Guitarist: Jake E. Lee. Badlands released two albums before Gillen decided to leave because of friction that developed between Lee and Gillen. After Ray Gillen's death BADLANDS released a 3rd and final album called DUSK which was an album's worth of material of unreleased studio outakes.

LEE ROCKER made his mark singing, playing, standing on, spinning and rocking his giant upright bass as a founding member (along with Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom), of the Grammy nominated music group The Stray Cats, who sold over 10 million albums, garnered 23 gold and platinum certified records, and were music video pioneers of the MTV. The Stray Cat’s worldwide mega hits “Stray Cat Strut”, “Sexy and Seventeen” and “Rock this Town” have become a part of the fabric of rock and roll. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has included “Rock this Town” as one of the 500 most important songs in rock. From the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine, to appearing on Saturday Night Live, to headlining the US Festival and touring with the Rolling Stones, LEE ROCKER has seen and done it all. In addition to The Stray Cats and the Rolling Stones, Rocker has toured and performed with George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, and John Fogerty. In 1982 Rocker and his father Stanley Drucker, (classical clarinetist) both received Grammy nominations; this was something that has only occurred twice in the history of the Grammy Awards.
