Wildnisgebiet Saminatal/Galinatal (Österreich, Nr. 53 - 2018 Vorarlberg; Fürstentum Liechtenstein): ein Refugialraum für Schmetterlinge (Lepidoptera) Peter Huemer1 1 Mag. Dr. Peter Huemer, Tiroler Landesmuseen Betriebsges.m.b.H., Sammlungs- und Forschungszentrum, Naturwissenschaftliche Sammlungen Krajnc-Straße 1, A-6060 Hall in Tirol E-Mail: [email protected] Abstract In the transboundary wilderness area of the Samina and Galina valleys (Austria, Vorarlberg; Principality of Liechtenstein) a total of 742 butterfly and moth species from 54 families were detected within a period lasting from September 2014 to September 2017. In addition, 18 historical and 22 subrecent species records are considered, resulting in a total of 782 species from the inves- tigation area. The faunistic results cover 165 first records for the Principality of Liechtenstein and thus make a fundamental con- tribution to the regional fauna, another 13 species are new to Vorarlberg. Among the most important regional discoveries is the third record of Elachista deriventa (Elachistidae) in Central Europe as well as a record of Elachista ornithopodella (Elachistidae), a species known only from a single specimen in the neighbour countries Austria and Switzerland, respectively. A taxonomically uncertain species of the genus Exoteleia (Gelechiidae) is presumably still undescribed. The local risk for endangered species from the regional Red List is comparatively moderate because of the predominant and only slightly threatened forest habitats. 115 are species are classified in one of the threatened species categories whereas 602 species are not endangered and 62 species are currently not classified within a category.

Polna 5, 22-235 Hańsk, e-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT: Sophronia ascalis (GOZMÁNY, 1951) has been collected in a xerothermic habitat near Chełm (SE Poland). The species is new to the Polish fauna. KEY WORDS: Lepidoptera, Gelechiidae, Sophronia ascalis, new record, E Poland.

This work contains faunistic data on the occurrence of 677 butterfly and moth species found during 2000-2008 in north-eastern Poland (Podlasie Province). The species Monopis fenestratella (HEYDEN, 1863), Amphisbatis elsae SVENSSON, 1982, Coleophora ptarmicia WALSINGHAM, 1910 and Epermenia falciformis (HAWORTH, 1828) were found in Poland for the first time. Recent data are provided for five other species – Monochroa servella (ZELLER, 1839), Teleiodes aenigma SATTLER, 1983, Dichomeris limosella (SCHLÄGER, 1849), Aethes rutilana (HÜBNER, 1817) and Eana derivana (LA HARPE, 1858) – known in Poland only from historical data. The occurrence in Podlasie of 75 species is reported for the first time, and the occurrence of 6 other species is confirmed for this area after more than 50 years. This work also describes a new species, Monopis bisonella ŠUMPICH, sp. n. A number of species are very rare in Poland and occur only locally.

©Österr. Ges. f. Entomofaunistik, Wien, download unter www.biologiezentrum.at Beiträge zur Entomofaunistik 4 37-44 Wien, Dezember 2003 Die Gelechiidae (Lepidoptera) des Bundeslandes Salzburg, Österreich Gernot Embacher* & Peter Huemer** Abstract The Gelechiidae (Lepidoptera) of the province Salzburg, Austria. The present paper deals with the species of Gelechiidae of the Austrian province of Salzburg. MTTTERBERGER (1909) lists 42 species while today 86 species are recorded for the fauna of Salzburg. Six species listed in HUEMER & TARMANN (1993) must be removed, seven species are new to the fauna. The occurrence of four out of seven species in HUEMER & TARMANN (1993) provided with a question mark is confirmed. Keywords: Lepidoptera, Gelechiidae, Austria, Salzburg, faunistic records, collection "Haus der Natur".

  • Handbook of Herbs and Spices
Handbook of herbs and spices © 2004, Woodhead Publishing Ltd Related titles from Woodhead’s food science, technology and nutrition list: Handbook of herbs and spices Volume 1 (ISBN 1 85573 562 8) Herbs and spices are among the most versatile and widely used ingredients in food processing. As well as their traditional role in flavouring and colouring foods, they have been increasingly used as natural preservatives and for their potential health-promoting properties, for example as antioxidants. Edited by a leading authority in the field, and with a distinguished international team of contributors, the Handbook of herbs and spices provides an essential reference for manufacturers wishing to make the most of these important ingredients. A first group of chapters looks at general issues including quality indices for conventional and organically produced herbs, spices and their essential oils. The main body of the handbook consists of over twenty chapters covering key spices and herbs from aniseed, bay leaves and black pepper to saffron, tamarind and turmeric. Chapters cover key issues from definition and classification to chemical structure, cultivation and post- harvest processing, uses in food processing, functional properties, regulatory issues, quality indices and methods of analysis. Antioxidants in food (ISBN 1 85573 463 X) Antioxidants are an increasingly important ingredient in food processing, as they inhibit the development of oxidative rancidity in fat-based foods, particularly meat, dairy products and fried foods. Recent research suggests that they play a role in limiting cardiovascular disease and cancers. This book provides a review of the functional role of antioxidants and discusses how they can be effectively exploited by the food industry, focusing on naturally occurring antioxidants in response to the increasing consumer scepticism over synthetic ingredients.
