Press Release No. 3 08 7. Rally Show Santa Domenica, 25.-27. November 2016., Sveta Nedelja-Savršćak PRESS RELEASE NO. 3 08. November 2016. Also this year, Rally Show Santa Domenica will welcome at least one high profile rally name. Austrian rally driver Andreas Aigner, former world champion in class PWRC, will come to this special and attractive gravel rally with his rear wheel drive BMW 650i rally car. Its V8 engine promises a great sound backstage for the whole atmosphere. Aigner was a product of Red Bull prize giving competition that was searching for a future rally star. Even without any previous experience with rallying and car racing, he persuaded his mentors Raimund Baumschlager and Armin Schwarz to give him a big chance in international rallying career. In year 2006, he signed with the Red Bull Škoda team managed and run by Schwarz. As a team mate of Finn Harri Rovanperä, he participated in ten WRC rallies in a Škoda Fabia WRC. After Manfred Stohl won the FIA Cup for Drivers of Production Cars in 2000, in year 2008, driving for BRR Baumschlager Rallye & Racing team in world rally championship, Aigner became second Austrian world rally champion. He won in that time period the very competitive Production World Rally Championship classification, valid especially for group N cars. After this success Aigner found it difficult to get the necessary budget for world championship. He missed some seasons, but now he is back in Austrian Rally Championship with different cars. One of them is also BMW 650i, a big car with rear wheel drive and V8 engine. He can drive it under new Austrian sport regulations. Car provides a great spectacle and unforgettable sound. With his BMW, Aigner will come also to Rally Show Santa Domenica. It will be difficult for him to win on the gravel stages, but certainly he could be one of the most attractive and memorable drivers of this year event in Sveta Nedelja and Savršćak. ___________________________________________________________________________ The website www.rallysantadomenica.com is the official reference point for official information regarding everything about Rally Show Santa Domenica. It’s been a year of both triumph and, unfortunately, tragedy and in this issue we take time out to remember María de Villota, whose passing in October left a deep void not just in motor sport but in all our hearts. María’s bravery following her F1 testing accident and the dedication she displayed afterwards – not only in promoting female involvement in motor sport but also safety on the road and track – will be missed. Elsewhere, it was a year of great success for women competitors and in this edition we look at Lucile Cypriano’s victory in the VW and commission-supported shoot-out for a place in next year’s VW Scirocco R-Cup and reveal how the FIA European Rallycross Championship has become a haven for female racers. It’s been a great year for CONTACTS: women in all forms of motor sport and IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER OR we look forward to even more in 2014! STORIES FOR THE NEXT ISSUE, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
