The RACC, far from being satisfied with the excellent base achieved in 2005, has wanted to turn the screw even tig- hter and further increase the level of offers and organisation for the 2006 edition, which will be staged this year from 23 to 26 March. Located close to the shakedown area and to al- most all of the timed stages, the service park of the 42 RallyRACC will have its true nerve centre in the area of the Village, from where the activity of the Manufacturer 1 and 2 teams will be seen, thus offering an excellent chance to experience on site how the top teams of the WRC work. A further area to fill the service park with atmos- phere and colour will be the area reserved for the Junior WRC Teams (with 14 participating teams) and the area reserved for the single-make cup Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy (8 teams). Moreover, two giant screens showing images from the race (one in the Village – Garden area – and another in the Commercial Area) will give information on the latest news of the event. And to com- plete the large information coverage, the Cadena Ser radio station, through its broadcasters Mora d’Ebre and Reus, will have a special programme especially dedicated to offer live news as well as information on the special stages and any possible incidence. This and much more (leisure, anima- tion areas, attractions, merchandising and specialised shopping stands, etc.) will be available at the service park of the 42 RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada. • Sébastien Loeb and Kronos Total Citroën will arrive in Catalunya as the leaders After the results of the third scoring round raced last weekend in Mexico, where Sébastien Loeb/Da- niel Elena took their first victory of the year, the World Rally Championship will arrive in Spain with the French driver on top of the standings with 26 points, closely followed by Finnish driver Marcus Grönholm (BP-Ford Focus RS WRC 06), with 21, who after his two victories had to settle for eighth in extremis in Mexico after driving off the road. The rest of the places of honour are completed by Austrian driver Manfred Stohl (OMV-Peugeot 307 WRC) on third, Petter Solberg from Norway (Subaru Impreza WRC2006) fourth and RACC driver Daniel Sordo (Citroën Xsara WRC) fifth, with the same points as Finnish driver Toni Gardemeister and Swedish driver Daniel Carlsson. As regards the Junior World Championship and after the first round (Rally Sweden), the provisional top spot has been taken by Swedish Suzuki driver Per-Gunnar Andersson..
