Dear Friends,

It has been said, “Do what you can with what you have, where you are. For the past 55 years as a priest I have tried my best to fulLill these words, with the talents God has given me.

It has been my privilege and opportunity to serve here at Our Lady of Sorrows parish for twenty -two years. Many years ago, I decided to return here for residency and pastoral ministry to our ten Broome County area nursing homes. When I turned 75 years old, diocesan policy required retirement. I did that, while still serving the various needs here at Our Lady of Sorrows parish. Now, soon closing in on 82 years of age, through much time spent in prayer and discernment and due to ensuing physical limitations as well as age, it is time to lessen these privileges and opportunities as priest in residence.

Therefore, I shall soon be moving to a retirement community in Syracuse, New York. I have formally been accepted into the community and the date of my move has yet to be set. Please know that making this decision has been difLicult but necessary and I will be speaking about this next chapter in my life with you at all Masses next weekend.

Always remember, it has been a privilege to be with you all and to serve as best I could in the name of Jesus Christ. For you, I have been brother and with you, I have been family.

“God be in your head and your understanding God be in your eyes and in your looking God be in your mouth and in your speaking God be in your heart and in your thinking. God be at our end and in our departing .” - Anonymous

You always have my love and prayers, Reverend Matthew Brown

AP@BKPFLK LC QEB LLOA Where did he go? Many times when we think of those who have died, we imagine escape from this world to a purely spiritual place. Jesus' Ascension can leave us in a place of confusion. What hap- pens to Jesus? And why does this matter to us? The Ascension has been conLirmed in the Creed for two millennia. In Jesus' Ascension, we're invited to consider our own ultimate end. Regardless of death's reality now, we believe in the resurrection of the body and the reuniLication of body and soul. One day, earth and heaven will meet perfectly and without end. We anticipate this "new heav- en and a new earth" at every Mass and throughout the beauty, truth, and love of the Church and her members. Today, celebrate a foreshadowing of the fullness we all await! The Ascension of the Lord Mass Schedule (Holy Day of Obligation) for Our Lady of Sorrows: 6:30am, 9am, 6pm * * Please note the new Mass Time for Holy Days during the week.
