Whether or not we care about food, the consequences of the way we eat are all around us. The global food system is a network in which we are all complicit. If we don’t like the way it works, or the world it is creating, it is up to us to change it.

Our Lady of Sorrows Church First Holy Communion May 6, 2018 Jesus said “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.” - John 6:35 801 Main Street PO Box 326 Vestal, New York 13851 -0326 (607) 748 -8287 www.olsvestal.org Page Two olsvestal.org May 6, 2018 Dear Friends, It has been said, “Do what you can with what you have, where you are. For the past 55 years as a priest I have tried my best to fulLill these words, with the talents God has given me. It has been my privilege and opportunity to serve here at Our Lady of Sorrows parish for twenty -two years. Many years ago, I decided to return here for residency and pastoral ministry to our ten Broome County area nursing homes. When I turned 75 years old, diocesan policy required retirement. I did that, while still serving the various needs here at Our Lady of Sorrows parish. Now, soon closing in on 82 years of age, through much time spent in prayer and discernment and due to ensuing physical limitations as well as age, it is time to lessen these privileges and opportunities as priest in residence. Therefore, I shall soon be moving to a retirement community in Syracuse, New York. I have formally been accepted into the community and the date of my move has yet to be set. Please know that making this decision has been difLicult but necessary and I will be speaking about this next chapter in my life with you at all Masses next weekend.
