Welcome to the Ruby’s World...

Two years ago, Cambridge Rugby Club acknowledged that there was nowhere in the local area for girls aged 11 and over to play rugby; they acted. On the 23rd November 2016 the first taster session for girls was held, for girls between 12 and 18. That was just the beginning. The 2017/8 season started with over fifty girls registered following the tremendous effort of John Creighton, coaches and parents. Today we have a strong squad of U13, U15 and U18’s, including five players involved in Eastern Counties. All the girls are dedicated, enthusiastic and hard working. This is shown in the tremendous improvement they are making from week to week. The girls have become such an important part of the club they have appointed me as the first the festival. They have bonded so well as a team and Women’s Chair of Cambridge. We have great plans the camaraderie is inspirational. for girl’s rugby! In January 2016 the RFU launched the ‘Meet recovered from a first-round loss to go on and win your inner Warrior’ Campaign to attract girls into rugby. Cambridge has impressively been awarded one of these Inner Warrior camps running today starting at 11am, it is a chance for all girls to try out rugby in a fun setting with experienced coaches who will teach introductory skills and drills for rugby. Afterwards the girls and parents will stay to watch the Cambridge Men’s 1st Team, some of whom have been a great help in coaching the girls. To join in the girls just needed to register at www.Englandrugby.com and find the inner warrior page. They just turn up with trainers, hockey boots, football boots or whatever, to have some fun and make some new mates. Personally, for me, rugby has always been a game for everyone of every shape and size and ability. It’s also a great way to make life-long friends and find out who you are. I will not rest until Cambridge has a 2018/19 season over 18’s Rubies. Caye Dyble, Ruby Chairwoman CRUFC Cambridge v Plymouth Albion
