  • The Universal House of Justice 8 June 1973 to the Bahá'ís of the World
The Universal House of Justice 8 June 1973 To the Bahá’ís of the World Dear Bahá’í Friends, The centennial year of the revelation of the Kitáb-i-Aqdas has already witnessed events of such capital significance in the annals of the Bahá’í Dispensation as to cause us to contemplate with awe the rapidity with which Divine Providence is advancing the Cause of the Most Great Name. The time is indeed propitious for the establishment of the International Teaching Centre, a development which, at one and the same time, brings to fruition the work of the Hands of the Cause residing in the Holy Land and provides for its extension into the future, links the institution of the Boards of Counselors even more intimately with that of the Hands of the Cause of God, and powerfully reinforces the discharge of the rapidly growing responsibilities of the Universal House of Justice. This International Teaching Centre now established will, in due course, operate from that building designated by the Guardian as the Seat for the Hands of the Cause, which must be raised on the arc on Mount Carmel in close proximity to the Seat of the Universal House of Justice. The duties now assigned to this nascent institution are: — To coordinate, stimulate and direct the activities of the Continental Boards of Counselors and to act as liaison between them and the Universal House of Justice. — To be fully informed of the situation of the Cause in all parts of the world and to be able, from the background of this knowledge, to make reports and recommendations to the Universal House of Justice and give advice to the Continental Boards of Counselors.

  • Whatever Happened to the Double Crusade?
1 Whatever happened to the Double Crusade? Page | 1 2 by Glenford Mitchell 3 1996-10-05 4 As I was thinking about what I might say, I was some weeks ago home alone and I'd been 5 asked by your assistant secretary to give a talk here. And I was wondering what to say to you. 6 And so I was thinking of all of the wonderful achievements of the American Bahá'í community 7 over the years and of the challenges that you face now, of the great potential for growth in this 8 country, and, for all of your activities, the seeming slowness of things, even though you are 9 doing a great deal. I read reports, and there are many activities the friends are engaged in, all 10 kinds of projects, teaching projects, and proclamation projects, and God knows what. And so I 11 was wondering why is it that we are not having a greater expansion in this country? And as I 12 thought about it of course inevitably my mind ran to the messages of the Guardian. 13 So a question popped up in my mind and that is the question that I will begin my talk with. And 14 the question is: whatever happened to the Double Crusade? This question is highly relevant to 15 the Four Year Plan on which this community is now embarked. And so I repeat, whatever 16 happened to the Double Crusade? Whither the army of light? Where have all the soldiers gone? 17 The answers to these questions, or to the main one, in any case, rest with each and all of us.

  • America & the Most Great Peace
26 August 2004 Dear Friends, In its 2003 Ridván message, The Universal House of Justice wrote: Let them [‘the friends of God’] strive to understand more deeply the Teachings that are relevant by reviewing letters of Shoghi Effendi which have been published in The World Order of Bahá'u'lláh, par- ticularly those entitled "The Goal of a New World Order", "America and the Most Great Peace", and "The Unfoldment of World Civiliza- tion". This interactive pdf version of “America and the Most Great Peace” was created for a study class in a cluster in Colorado. Enhancements to the document include synonyms for words that might be new to students for whom the English language is not their mother tongue. There are 70 links to background information for allusions made by the Guardian to events, places and personalities in the letter. Graph- ics in the form of photographs, charts and symbols have been added to enchance nonverbal understanding. The remaining two letters will also be transformed into interactive pdfs when time permits. With loving Bahá’í greetings, Duane K. Troxel, Ed.D. Wheat Ridge, Colorado [email protected] This pdf version of Shoghi Effendi’s 1933 letter—”America and the Most Great Peace”—has not yet undergone review by the Office of Research and Literature Review in Wilmette, IL. —DKT Amatu’l-Bahá Rúhíyyih Khánum’s Comments on “America and the Most Great Peace” n 1933 he [Shoghi Effendi] gave the North American Bahá’ís America and the Most Great Peace, which dealt largely with the role this part of the world has been destined by God to play during this Iperiod in history, recalled the self-sacrificing journeys and services of the Master in the West and recapitulated the victories already won for the Faith by this favoured Community.

Palavras-chave: tecnologias, religiões, Bahá’i, social.
