Montagu, Secretary of State. Sir Peter referred to the great history of the Service and its long record, and as regards the present gave full thanks to Mr Montagu and Sir Havelock Charles, C.G.B.E., K.C.v.o., Medical Adviser to the India Office. In reply, Mr. Montagu referred to his strong belief in the necessity of the Indian " " Medical Service as a pivotal service and to the need of making it contented and in full enjoy- ment of all its old privileges as regards private practice, etc. Mr. Montagu was quite enthu- siastic as to the need of a strong, united and contented Service, and mentioned that he had just ?erutq e received the Report of the recent Medical Services Committee.
