  • NO PARKING a Musical in One Act for Seven Characters, Piano, Cello and Clarinet
1 NO PARKING A Musical in One Act for Seven Characters, Piano, Cello and Clarinet Book and Lyrics: Elizabeth Bassine Music: Roger Ames Copyright January 7, 2016 Cast of Characters: Alice – elegant, but in a world she no longer knows – and doesn’t want to Matron -- this the focus of her life, saddened by her inability to make life any easier for her charges Sara – f inding joy in the unique/loving bond, allowing the challenge of Alzheimer’s to fade as it removes all earlier challenges between mother and daughter Clara – cheeky redhead, cheshire cat-like, appearing/disappearing, stuck in her abused teen years Walter – big, comfortable, walrus of a man, offering hugs and remnants of wisdom Manny –a neurotic mad hatter ex-entertainer who adds merriment despite himself Jerry – more the reflective looking glass than anything he once was Dodger – dog/white rabbit helping Alice find her way ‘home’ Music as character: Musicians seated to side stage, lit when dramaturgy requires. The music is an organic dimension .…suggesting, anticipating, and expressing the characters’ state-of-mind, sometimes confused, sometimes expansive, sometimes intimate… always revealing personal truths and the shared truth of musical memory. Set design: An equally impressionistic concept can suffice to depict the nursing home environment…. serving to describe the bare quality of lives depleted of any richness, save the vibrant nature of what remains of the residents themselves. Furnishings to include: Telephone table Reception desk/nurses’ station Sofa Folding chairs (for music room/dining room) Dining tables – 2 Outdoor bench Door frame 4 or 5 lockers or framed closet doors NO PARKING reveals through musical-memory the near-end of a journey of nostalgia and sorrow, experienced by a still lively group of seniors afflicted by Alzheimer’s.

  • Music Genre and Music Festival Locations
Music genre and music festival locations The implementation of music genre in outdoor music festival policy Author: Koen Theodoor Segers Number: 11415509 Supervisor: R.C. Kloosterman Master Thesis Human Geography Track: Economic Geography Date: 11-6-2018 Word count: 22.856 MUSIC GENRE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL LOCATIONS ABSTRACT Literature shows that music festivals have become very popular amongst a wide range of people, causing festivals to be organized to a large extent. Besides bringing producers and consumers together and acting as an intermediary between different actors, festivals also affect the local environment in which the festival resides. Furthermore, the location of festivals is important to their economic impact. However, local planners and policy makers often ignore the use of festivals as a tool of development. The aim of this research is to study the relationship between music genre and the locations of outdoor music festivals in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht (the G4). Also, the extent to which outdoor music festivals are taken into account in local development is discussed. The results of this research show that policy regarding outdoor music festivals differs between the cities of the G4. These policies are location and context-specific. Furthermore, experts in the field of event policy say that it is difficult to take into account different music genres in event policy. However, there are similarities in outdoor music festival locations displaying certain music genres in the cities of the G4. What can be concluded from this research is that there is an obvious pattern of dance festivals being organized away from the inner-city limits.

On the other hand, I proposed the idea of relating the temporal network properties to the evolution.

Elites, communities and the limited benefits of mentorship in electronic music Milan´ Janosov1, Federico Musciotto1, Federico Battiston1, and Gerardo Iniguez˜ 1, 2, 3,* 1Department of Network and Data Science, Central European University, Budapest, 1051, Hungary 2Department of Computer Science, Aalto University School of Science, Aalto, 00076, Finland 3IIMAS, Universidad Nacional Autonoma´ de Mexico,´ Ciudad de Mexico,´ 01000, Mexico *[email protected] Abstract While the emergence of success in creative professions, such as music, has been studied extensively, the link between individual success and collaboration is not yet fully uncovered. Here we aim to fill this gap by analyzing longitudinal data on the co-releasing and mentoring patterns of popular electronic music artists appearing in the annual Top 100 ranking of DJ Magazine. We find that while this ranking list of popularity publishes 100 names, only the top 20 is stable over time, showcasing a lock-in effect on the electronic music elite. Based on the temporal co-release network of top musicians, we extract a diverse community structure characterizing the electronic music industry. These groups of artists are temporally segregated, sequentially formed around leading musicians, and represent changes in arXiv:1908.10968v2 [physics.soc-ph] 31 Oct 2019 musical genres. We show that a major driving force behind the formation of music communities is mentorship: around half of musicians entering the top 100 have been mentored by current leading figures before they entered the list. We also find that mentees are unlikely to break into the top 20, yet have much higher expected best ranks than those who were not mentored.

Celebre è il loro remix di This Is What It Feels Like. Il 6 agosto i W&W saranno dunque sul palco del Take Off insieme a Sander Van Doorn, Don Diablo, Promise Land, J Nice, Junior Black e tanti altri ospiti che per il momento restano avvolti nel mistero.
