You will find in this guide detailed information about the Master Programmes offered by the University of Oviedo for the next academic year. Our Master Programmes, supervised by the International Graduate Centre, guarantee teaching quality, internationalization and engagement with the productive sector, which are the keys to the success of our Campus of International Excellence. Our curriculum pays special attention to international visibility, with double degrees co-supervised by other international universities, and also to the professional sector, with an attractive offer of professionally-oriented Masters’ Degrees. We have made a great effort to establish agreements with foreign institutions in order to offer double degrees, and we have also strengthened bilingualism in our master programmes in the last few years, providing English teaching. From this University we would like to give special thanks to companies and institutions for their support and collaboration in the teaching aspects of the master programmes, development of masters’ theses and internships. We have outstanding external lectures who contribute to provide excellent education. 4 Introduction
Introduction
The University of Oviedo offers 59 Masters´ Degrees for the aca- demic year 2016-2017. This offer includes master programmes in the five branches of knowledge with a profile that covers degrees which enable access to regulated professions, programmes with a strong re- search orientation, and also professionally-oriented programmes. In general terms, provided programmes are completed on a full time basis, they have a minimum duration of one academic year (60 ECTS credits) and a maximum duration of two academic years (120 ECTS credits). Furthermore, master programmes are required to access PhD studies. The University of Oviedo has established a pre-registration deadline – except for the Erasmus Mundus Master Programmes, which have their own deadline and registration procedures, which are available on their own websites. In order to pre-register in a Master´s Degree, candidates must hold a Bachelor´s Degree that qualifies the holder to access master studies. In case of students who haven´t finished their studies yet, admission will be subject to obtaining such degree before the registration deadline. In any case, it is highly recommended that candidates check the access and admission requirements of each programme before starting the application process. Likewise, please keep in mind that the delivery of these master programmes is subject to having a minimum of 20 students in each programme.

Since it is an interdisciplinary programme, it is not necessary to have previous knowledge of the different areas involved in the course. It is only necessary to have some basic general training as well as dedication and versatility. Content will be based on humanities and social sciences, and will be easily accessible to everyone, regardless of their academic or professional background. It offers two different tracks, professional and academic-research, providing advanced and systematic training on concepts, theories and analysis methodologies that are relevant to a wide variety of academic disciplines and to the conclusions of feminist research. Both study tracks integrate the analysis of social and cultural transformation marked by migrations and global diversity. The professional study track focuses on applying all the gained knowledge to the labor market, paying special attention to gender equality policies and the European guidelines.

This Master´s Degree is offered by a consortium of seven universities. Group I: Gant (Belgium), Bremen (Germany), Algarve (Portugal), Pierre and Marie Curie- Paris 006 (France); Group II: Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (Ireland), University of Klaipeda (Lithuania) and the University of Oviedo. All students start the Master at one of the universities included in the first group and they will take the third term in one of the institutions of the second group. The Master´s Thesis should be completed at one of the centers of the European Excellence Network on Marine Biodiversity. This Master course is suitable for graduates in Biology, Ecology, Oceanography, Marine Sciences, Geography and Geology among other studies. Students are required to have a C1 level of English according to the European Common Framework of Reference for Languages. Students may earn a double degree with the MSc in Forest Sciences of the University of Concepción (Chile), taking 30 ECTS credits at the host university.

This programme has been designed for graduates in Experimental Sciences, Health Sciences or with scientific-technical studies with significant training in subjects related to the fields of Chemistry and Life Sciences. Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to carry out professional activities related to environmental consulting, risk assessment, development and implementation of biotechnological solutions, establishment and management of biotechnology companies, teach biotechnology, biomedicine and environmental technology, and develop research activities in those fields. This programme has been designed for graduates in Sciences, Health Sciences and Engineers. Students shall provide evidence of a minimum command of the English language equivalent to B1 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Graduates will acquire training in instrumental analysis techniques, useful not only at routine laboratories but also at basic and advanced research laboratories. Candidates will therefore be qualified to work at most chemical or biochemical laboratories, of technological or industrial nature. This programme has been designed for those holding a Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Sciences or equivalent. In any case, candidates shall provide evidence of a level of English equivalent to B2 according to the Common European Framework for Languages. It aims to train skilled experts able to deal with problems related to molecular design or modeling of physical-chemical, industrial or biochemical and biological processes and applications of Theoretical Chemistry and Molecular Modeling on different fields. Students take the first year at the University of Oviedo and the second year at any of the 47 universities included in the consortium and which belong to 8 different countries of the European Union.

This programme provides advanced training in the field of organic and inorganic chemistry, which will enable students to access the field of chemical research and will lead to their incorporation as high qualified professionals to chemical and pharmaceutical companies, or to R+D and innovation departments of both private and public bodies.

This programme is intended for graduates in Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Urban Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Marine Sciences or Geography. In some cases, students will have to take complementary subjects to complete training. Likewise, students shall provide evidence of a level of English equivalent to B1 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students will gain advanced theoretical and practical training to provide them with the necessary competences to assess, produce and use all types of geological information. Therefore, upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to develop professional and research tasks related to a wide range of socioeconomic fields such as infrastructures, exploration and exploitation of geological resources, environment, geological hazard, geological heritage and development cooperation amongst others.

This Master´s Degree has been specifically designed for graduates in Nursing with 3 years’ experience working in the field. Students are required a C1 level of English according to the European Common Framework of Reference for Languages. The Master course is delivered in Portugal, Oviedo and / or Finland, and the Master´s Thesis can be completed in any of the centres of the consortium or its partners: Universidad Sao Carlos (Brazil) and Mahidol University (Thailand). This course enables graduates to work in any participating country (Portugal, Finland and Spain) as nurses in intensive and emergency care units as well as in paediatric units, according to the track selected by students.

This Master´s Degree aims to provide professionals with specific skills and competences to reduce the risk of disasters and contribute to a better and more specialised public health system based on medical aid after an emergency or disaster situation is produced. This course has been specifically designed for graduate students willing to acquire these competences and also for graduates working in the public system in the field of emergencies and disasters. Students will take a common module at the University of Oviedo and, after choosing a specific track that meets their needs and interests, they will continue their studies at the Karolinksa Institute (Sweden) or the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). Finally, the internship period and the Master´s Thesis will be completed in any of the universities of the consortium or the partner institutions.

This programme has been designed for graduates in Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences, Engineering or Architecture. It aims to train students to work in companies and institutions which operate in the public and private sector and that are related to the field of emergency and disaster, both in Spain and abroad.
