 Originally a poem written by Francis Scott Keys as he watched from a British war ship as they bombarded Fort McHenry in the war of 1812.

 Later the poem was put to music of an old English song.

 Official named the National Anthem by congress in 1931

99 Luftballons – Nena

 Goofy Single released in 1982 in German, then English.

 Carlo Karges (Nena’s Guitar Player) wrote the lyrics while watching balloons released at a Rolling Stones concert float over the Berlin Wall.

 Berlin Wall was a wall that separated Berlin into West / East. West being free, East controlled by communist USSR. 1961-1989.

Symphony No. 1 3rd Movement “Hunter’s Funeral” – Gustav Mahler

 Austrian Composer and Conductor 1860-1911

 “Hunter’s Funeral” was inspired by a woodcarving (picture below), and uses “Frere Jacques” as the theme of the movement, but in a Minor key.

 The Minor key makes the song sound sad and haunting.

Every day I Have the Blues – B.B. King

 Dates: 1925 - 2015. American Blues singer, , and guitarist.

 #6 on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest guitarists of all time.

 Blues and Rock legend that has been making music through some of America’s hardest times as a Country and people.

Franz Schubert – “Unfinished Symphony” Finale

 Dates: 1797 – 1828, was an Austrian composer.

 Wrote some 600 Lieder, ten complete or nearly complete symphonies, liturgical music, operas, incidental music and a large body of chamber and solo piano music

 To this day, musicologists still disagree as to why Schubert failed to complete the symphony; or even whether he did fail to complete it.

Low Rider – War

 Was is an American band from California that formed in 1969.

 Low rider was released in 1975 and was #1 on the charts.

 Just a fun song that has little or no meaning outside of how cool low rider cars are
