    “…vaulting cathedrals of sound, framed by luminous piano, shimmering synthesizer orchestrations, and, above all, the seemingly infinite layers of vocal harmonies...” Enya The Discography With her blend of folk melodies, synthesized backdrops, and classical motifs, Enya created a distinctive style that more closely resembled new age than the folk and Celtic music that provided her initial influences. Enya, birth name Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, was born in Gweedore, County Donegal, in Ireland in 1961 to a musical family, the fourth youngest of nine children. Several of her siblings formed the band An Clann As Dobhair in 1968, renamed as Clannad in the 1970s: Eithne joined the group in 1980, playing keyboards and providing backing vocals on a couple of their albums. In 1982, shortly before Clannad became famous for "Theme From Harry’s Game", producer and manager Nicky Ryan left the group and Eithne joined him to start her own solo career. As a musical group, Enya is collaboration between three people: Enya herself, who composes and performs the music; Nicky Ryan, who produces the albums, and Roma Ryan, who writes the lyrics in various languages. Enya is an approximate transcription of how Eithne is pronounced in her native Irish.     Soundtrack It’s always a long way to home, even longer on this dreary night. I am alone except, I suppose, for the company of my music, the songs playing randomly from the playlist. The night glides by in perfect darkness, only the car’s headlights tethering me to this world. The melodies of the passing soundtrack conjure up images of broken hearts, urban wastelands, other roadways. Life is a Highway comes to an end, then a mere second of silence, to be replaced incongruously by I Wanna Hold Your Hand. The jangle of the music jolts me, and without thought I find myself !transported back in time.! I am riding on a bus, not a school bus, but a city bus. This is a big deal for me. I’ve learned the route from home to my new school. I recognize many of the faces of the passengers. I know the bus driver, who is always the same, who always gives me a smile when I climb up the stairs !on my ten year old legs. I sit half-way down the bus and I am feeling pretty grown up.! Oh, I’ll tell you something! I think you’ll understand! When I say that something! !I wanna hold your hand! This is the soundtrack of my ride, running through my head in an ever repeating loop as I gaze out the window at the city going by. I know, quite self-consciously, that it is important. I under- stand its significance, for it is the first rock ’n roll song I have adopted as my own.

He is renowned for his iconic role as a founding member and lead harmonica player of the pioneering funk/jazz band that composed and recorded such hits as “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Cisco Kid,” “The World is a Ghetto,” “Slippin’ into Darkness,” “Why Can’t Be Friends,” and many more chart-topping songs from 1969- 1993. Since then, Oskar and his original band mates from that era perform as the LowRider Band. Oskar also performs around the world with outstanding musicians from the Pacific Northwest, known as Lee Oskar and Friends, featuring his own new arrangements, innovative compositions and well- loved hit songs. Over the years, several Lee Oskar compositions have been featured on movie sound tracks and television commercials. Oskar has contributed to many Gold and Platinum recordings, and has been honored with multiple ASCAP Writing Awards. His hooklines and melodies have been widely sampled, including the recent megahit song, “Timber” by Pitbull, and award-winning songs, “Strip That Down” by Liam Payne and “GDFR” by Flo Rida. In the words of Seattle Times critic Misha Berson, “The harmonica man can really blow, but he can croon, too.” With a wide-ranging portfolio of unforgettable compositions evoking different moods, rhythms and genres, Oskar has earned critical and popular acclaim for nearly four decades. Most recently, under the umbrella of Lee Oskar Productions and Publishing, Oskar has brought in highly talented instrumentalists to contribute to exciting new arrangements of his original compositions.
